Katrina Kaif can’t wait to unveil her wax figure in London

Katrina Kaif at L'Oreal AwardsBollywood superstar Katrina Kaif can’t wait to unveil her wax figure at the world-famous London attraction, Madame Tussauds, on Friday 27th March.

Speaking to press about her soon-to-be unveiled wax figure at the  L’Oreal Paris Femina Women Awards 2015 held in Mumbai recently, Kaif said, “It was really exciting when I first heard the news. It is something which will be there forever. I have grown up in London for a few years, so it brings back lot of nice memories. I would be launching it on March 27 in London at the main Madame Tussauds and I am really looking forward to it.”

2015 is the 15th anniversary of Bollywood at Madame Tussauds London, and to celebrate the world-famous attraction has created a glamorous new setting for its Indian film stars, including a brand NEW wax figure of Katrina Kaif, which guests can visit from Saturday March 28, 2015.

The stunning star has become the seventh Bollywood actor to be honoured with a figure at Madame Tussauds London – her inclusion has a special significance as she was voted for by fans*, just as Amitabh Bachcahn was in 2000.

Katrina, who collaborated closely with the Madame Tussauds artistic team to ensure total accuracy, was delighted with the figure, which is portrayed in a dancing pose wearing a beautiful sequined white, silver and gold, two piece outfit.

Katrina’s figure was created by a team of 20 sculptors and artists over a four-month period, using hundreds of precise measurements taken at a sitting in Mumbai and cost £150,000 to create.

The Dhoom:3 actress is currently working on Fitoor with Aditya Roy Kapur and Jagga Jasoos with Ranbir Kapoor. Kaif also filmed for Phantom with actor Saif Ali Khan in the English capital last year, which will release in UK cinemas later this year through Disney UTV.

“Music plays an important part in my all films. I always think of scenes and sequences keeping songs in mind. The music has always taken the story forward, and more so in HNY because a lot of the story has been told through songs. I have to thank Irshad Bhai (Kamil), Vishal-Shekhar and all the singers for doing a fantastic job. Shah Rukh is a great inspiration for making music because he has great songs down the years. I always go that extra mile for the songs because its picturized on him,” said Farah Khan, Director HNY.

The music of the film has every bit of the trademark Farah Khan energy…vibrant and colourful, just like her. It’s always a pleasure to work with Farah and the undying faith that she has in us pushes us even harder to exceed her expectations of us each time. It’s been an honour to have composed the music for a magnum opus such as this one and the journey has been unforgettable. HNY is our fourth film with Shah Rukh and even today we can say that no one does it the way he does…from being the best producer to the most phenomenal performer. And once again, he’s brought our music to life with his magic along with the hugely talented ensemble cast. HNY is sonically massive in keeping with the larger-than-life scale of the film which has seen some amazing team work and has truly been made with a lot of heart.”

Alia Bhatt sings for ‘Highway’

Imtiaz Ali, Alia Bhatt and A R Rahman at a song recording for Highway

She’s not only the film’s leading lady but Alia Bhatt has sung one of the songs in Imtiaz Ali’s soon to release film, Highway. The music of the film has been composed by the maestro A.R. Rahman and he’s got Alia to sing a very soulful lullaby, Sooha Saha. Zeb Bangash, of the famous Pakistani duo Zeb & Haniya, shares vocals with Alia in the song.

In the film Veera (Alia’s character) and Mahabir (played by Randeep) take the road and traverse through six states of northern India. As the journey moves from the plains of Panjab to the hills of Himachal, Veera sings this lullaby, which reminds Mahabir of his childhood. Both Imtiaz and Rahman agreed that if Alia sang a stanza herself, it would add more poignance to the scene.

“We have this lullaby, Sooha Saha in Highway..Imtiaz said Alia has a great voice and I didn’t trust him. Then she learned the song and sang to me and I was pretty impressed with her natural ability too. We guided her a little bit to perfect the singing. She did it twice and then we got it almost right and now it sounds great,” says A.R. Rahman

An excited Alia Bhatt adds, “It was unreal.. I am a bathroom singer but to have the opportunity to sing a song composed by Rahman sir was unbelievable.. This film is so close to my heart not just for acting but for singing too now! “

Highway, produced by Window Seat Films and presented by Sajid Nadiadwala, will be released worldwide by UTV Motion Pictures. The music of the film will be available on T-Series.

Highway
will release in UK cinemas on 21st February, 2014.

Kapoor Screen Icons Ranbir, Rishi and Neetu Host Exclusive Press Conference To Launch Besharam in the UK

Two generations of the iconic Kapoor acting dynasty were in the UK on Thursday, 19th September 2013 for the official launch of their new family entertainer film Besharam, which releases on 2nd October 2013 through Reliance Entertainment.

A co-production between and Movie Temple and Reliance Entertainment, hearthrob son and Indian Cinema’s iconic leading man Ranbir Kapoor was joined by his famous real-life parents Rishi [Kapoor] and Neetu [Kapoor] as the ‘Kapoor Khandan’ came together for a fun and candid press conference. Besharam marks the first time that all three Kapoor family members have acted together on the big screen.

The spacious hall was hushed in anticipation as the three Bollywood superstars made their grand entrance to a frenzy of flashblubs and applause. Taking their seats together with lead actress in the film Pallavi Sharda and Sanjeev Lamba, CEO, Reliance Entertainment, Mahesh Ramanathan, COO, Reliance Entertainment and Himanshu Mehra, partner at Movie Temple, proceedings commenced with a special viewing of the item song featuring Ranbir, Rishi and Neetu, Chal Hand Uthake Nachche.

The media were then treated to a special welcome from the man himself Ranbir, who said: ‘I am delighted to be here in the UK. This visit is even more special this time as I finally have my parents with me. Besharam is very much a family entertainer, so it is fitting that I should come with my father and mother.’

The floor was then opened up for a lively question and answer session. With the interest garnered by the fact that the Kapoor clan have acted together for the first time, the media asked the trio questions about how it felt to act together, to which Ranbir said: ‘It feels great. Both my parents are an inspiration to me. My father and mother are fabulous actors and my father has been passionate about his craft for over 40 years. I have learnt so much from both of them.’

Neetu Kapoor added: ‘For me, I took on this role in Besharam for two reasons. Firstly, it was a very unique script and concept, and secondly I could act with my family. It was nice, it felt secure and I was in my comfort zone.’

Attention then turned to beautiful leading lady Pallavi Sharda. The Indo-Australian actress spoke of her association with the Bollywood industry and of how Bollywood is perceived by the Indian community in Australia. ‘When I was growing up I was fascinated by Bollywood. I used to wear a Bindi on my forehead whenever I went out. I love Bollywood; it formed a big part of my identity when I was growing up in Australia. Australian Indians really identify with Bollywood as it acts as a way for them to connect with their roots. Indian Cinema is increasingly more cross-over nowadays in the type of films that are being made.’

She added: ‘I have had a great time working on this film. The Kapoors have been very welcoming to me during the making of this film. I had a great time.’

When asked about the key messaging behind Besharam, Ranbir Kapoor said: ‘Beshram is not about embarrassing anybody. Besharam is an attitude. It’s about listening and following your heart.’

Speaking about the evolving of the Indian film market, Rishi Kapoor said: ‘We are evolving by each film. We are making technically better films. Few films offer a message to society.’

In response to a question on what Mr Sanjeev Lamba, CEO of Reliance Entertainment’s expectations are from Besharam, he said: “Reliance Entertainment distributes and produces both Hollywood and Bollywood movies. With a strategic global outreach, our films are going over 65 – 70 countries. Besharam is a movie for all. Besharam being the most commercial family entertainer, we want it to be liked by all.”

Mr Mahesh Ramanathan, COO of Reliance Entertainment added: ‘There are 200 countries in the world. And Bollywood has gone only to 35 countries of the South Asian population. There are wonderful markets who are on the lookout for Bollywood. It is about taking the infrastructure, funding people with passion, to take the films to various markets. Reliance has one of the biggest distribution structures from India.’

Speaking about his involvement in the production, Himanshu Mehra, Partner at Movie Temple said: “I was part of Abhinav’s team with Dabbang. We realised that we could form a company and work together. We then approached to Ranbir Kapoor and Neetu Ji with the script and went ahead with Besharam. Our like mindedness has helped us work in unison.”

Hrithik Roshan talks about his brain surgery

Hrithik Roshan who underwent a brain surgery a few days ago is well and back home. The popular actor has been advised 4 weeks of rest and will then be back in action.

Hrithik Roshan - Surgery

Here is what Hrithik Roshan had to say about his successful brain surgery:

“First of all, all fear is 99% assumption based, in fact almost ALL worries in life would disappear if we just stop assuming things. I just don’t allow my mind to assume a different truth behind the obvious. Like in relationships…I really love asking people which school they went to to learn how to mind read others! They claim to know not only what’s actually behind what others say, but even the tone behind the words of an sms! anyways, So now if I’m not allowed to mindread others, I’m also not allowed to mind read myself!”

“I did not allow myself to assume something will go wrong. There was no evidence to support that assumption. Once the doctors said local anesthesia is safer except fr the pain, I quickly made my peace with the pain, took the better option and looked forward to a mindblowing (literally) experience! Haha. How could I have any fear then? I was with the best doctors and was armed with objective information. I was making them sing songs while a hole was being drilled into my skull. Why worry until something DOES go wrong!”

“Yes I can’t afford to take a sick leave. This ofcourse throws a lot of lives, lives of people very dear to me, completely out of whack. But I cannot worry, that solves nothing. I have to focus on what can be! All I have to do is take a decision…I decide that I have the power to turn a curse into a boon, as I have done in the past. I will make up for this in the most wonderful way imaginable for all the people concerned.”

“I will of course be my most careful.(Laughs) Do not worry. That I promise. But I will always be a slave (again a very careful one) to my vision. If I can dream it, I will make it happen. (In the most careful way again) is everyone happy? (Laughs)”

Rai, who will be joined by actor husband Abhishek Bachchan in the British capital, has been confirmed as a celebrity presenter at the Chime for Change event on 1st June aimed at raising funds and awareness for women’s rights and empowerment around the world.

“I am really happy that so many amazing artists and presenters have come together to support Chime For Change. Ranbir Kapoor shakes a leg with Madhuri Dixit in Ghaagra

She in-arguably is one of the finest dancers Bollywood has ever seen. So, the anticipation surrounding Madhuri Dixit’s special number with Ranbir Kapoor — titled ‘Ghaagra’ — in Ayan Mukerji’s next, Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani, is hardly surprising. And Ranbir himself seems more excited than anyone else. The Kapoor scion is even happy to let Madhuri — who celebrated her 46th birthday recently — be the centre of attraction.

“While shooting, I wasn’t trying to compete with her. I was more than happy with Madhuriji take centre stage. When she is in a song, who is going to take a look at me anyway? She has added a lot to the buzz of the film. I’m sure people will be curious to see her on the big screen,” says Ranbir, who admits that he has “always been a great admirer” of hers.

“We are really thrilled that she has done the song. It was fun doing it. Actually, it was Karan Johar’s ( Producer) idea. He suggested it to Ayan because we always had the scope for such a song (his character, Bunny, is introduced here).

Speaking at the press conference, Jha said: ” I try to present realistic content in my films, weave them into popular grammar and make them engaging because everyone has to see them. They have to be released in  the same cinemas where Karan Johar’s and Yash Raj’s films will release and I have to compete with them. It is a big battle for me to package my stories for a commercial audience.”

Talking about the London Film Festival premiere, Abhay Deol told BollyNewsUK: “I am excited and have never been to this festival before. It is nice to be part of a festival. I hope it reaches to a wider audience through this. I am just curious where this would lead to. I just hope it reaches the right audience.”

“This is my first UK premiere as most of my films don’t release here. Channel 4 has shown some of my films in the UK but distributors usually don’t release my films here,” added Doel whose last release here was Zindagi Na Milegi Doobara.

Commenting on the popularity of commercial cinema that is accepted by UK audiences, Prakash Jha said:” The UK audience is not growing up. They are stuck. People here still want their children to be like what they see in Bollywood films. They want the ideal daughter-in-law they see in the movies.”

“UK audiences come out a film and talk about how beautiful Rani Mukherji’s  ‘saree’ was,” said Abhay.

“People here also touch our feet much more than people back home in India,” said the Rajneeti director speaking about the traditional values that are seen in the UK diaspora.

“If films can instill that in an audience who is far way from home and want something to connect with, then it is great,” explained Arjun Rampal.

Arjun Rampal, Abhay Deol and Prakash Jha will be attending the  London Film Festival Gala Premiere of Chakravyuh at Empire Cinema, Leicester Square later today.
