B4U to release ‘All is Well’ in UK cinemas on 21st August

After the phenomenal success of Oh My God, Umesh Shukla is back again with yet another family entertainer, All Is Well.

From All Is Not Well to All Is Well, this August, UK cinema-goers will be taken on an emotional journey filled with comic moments that is sure to tickle their funny bones!

All is Well - UK Release B4U (1)In this family drama, starring Abhishek Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor, Asin and Supriya Pathak – communication gap takes precedence over the generation gap.

While being on a chase from dangerous goons, the family squabble endlessly addressing their own love-hate relationship between each other.

The story casts Abhishek Bachchan as Indar, an aspiring singer in London and Asin as Nimmi his love interest in the film.

The film tells the story of Indar who gets a once in a lifetime opportunity to be launched by a big record label in exchange for a substantial fee.

Having tried many different ways to raise funds, Indar almost gives up – until he gets a call from his lawyer in India informing him of his father Bhalla (Rishi Kapoor) intentions to sell their family bakery business.

He packs his bags and heads to India with his girlfriend Nimmi (Asin) with the hope of securing the funds for his new album from the sale of the family business and starting a new life full of love and success with Nimmi.

Their dreams are shattered when they’re kidnapped in the airport. Scared for their lives, they arrive in the den of the most notorious criminal in town.

Wondering why they’ve been taken hostage, Indar has a moment of shock when introduced to his father Bhalla (Rishi Kapoor) who has also been held hostage, for not returning debts owed to the goons.

With only one day been given as grace to the family to pay the debts, the family decide to be on the run – will they escape the goons?  Will they sell their family business? Now that Nimmi is unnecessarily involved in the mess with Indar – will she still stick with him until the end?

Then begins a journey of fun, realisation, values and confusion which every family can sometimes relate to in their own lives.

‘Ae Mere Humsafar’ from ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’ revived in ‘All is Well’

All Is Well AbhishekAnother blockbuster in the making, T- Series has recreated the magic of the cult song “Ae Mere Humsafar” from the Aamir Khan-Juhi Chawla starrer Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak in their upcoming film All is Well.

All is Well stars Abhishek Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor and Asin. Since T-Series also owns the music rights of Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, the production house thought it ideal to feature the song in All is Well, directed by Umesh Shukla, under their home banner.

The music of the song is revived by composer Mithoon, of Aashiqui 2 fame with additional lyrics by Amitabh Verma. The new version of the song has been sung by Mithoon and Tulsi Kumar and will be quite a highlight in the film.

Confirming the news says producer Bhushan Kumar, “It is a iconic song that is fondly remembered even today. The song was the ideal fit for the scene and hence we have decided to use it in the film”.

Directed by Umesh Shukla, produced by T Series and Allchemy Film Productions, the movie is slated to release in UK cinemas on Aug 21, 2015.

Watch the promo of the song here:

Raghav teams up with Abhishek Bachchan & Nelly

Canadian pop music star Raghav is set to release his new summer single ‘Until The Sun Comes Up’. The track features Grammy Award winning rapper Nelly, and an exclusive version that features the hip-hop styling of Bollywood superstar Abhishek Bachchan.

Of the track Raghav says, “I hope people will look years from now at this song being a singular moment when east and west collaborated in a way that has a true global musical impact.  And performing it with Abhishek (who is the most talented human I’ve ever met) and Nelly (who is a legend) make this song even more special to me.”

Bachchan, who has starred in over 50 major Bollywood productions, is known for his love of music and having previously featured as a rapper in his movies, he dons the microphone once again for a verse on ‘Until The Sun Comes Up’ in his unique ‘Bachchan-esque’ style. The star has expressed his excitement on his Twitter page this week, personally thanking Raghav, and stating the collaboration was ‘an opportunity to work with two of my favourites.’

Rap star Nelly, a Grammy award-winning artist with 4 UK number ones under his belt also takes a verse on ‘Until The Sun Comes Up’. Last year the rapper turned TV star, having secured his own reality show ‘Nellyville’, which is currently in its second season. His collaboration with Raghav and Abhishek Bachchan is an exciting move for rap music lovers in India.

Since announcing the collaboration last week, social media has been buzzing with conversation about the three stars teaming up for the big summer single, with thousands of tweets from pop, hip hop and Bollywood music fans around the world.

An instant summer anthem ‘Until The Sun Comes Up’ will be accompanied by a powerful full video, set for release in August – highlighting the lack of electricity in Africa.  After teaming up with Solar-Aid.org, an international NGO that has the goal of eliminating the kerosene lamp from Africa by the year 2020, Raghav distributed over 300 solar lights to school-age children in the small rural township of Shungubweni, in Tanzania. Raghav purchased the lights to personally deliver them to the community. The lights will help the students of Shungubweni Secondary School study for an extra 375,000 hours, and save their families $60,000 per light as they will no longer needed to buy kerosene or candles. This amounts to a significant shift towards environmental responsibility and self-sustainability for the families who have received these lights.

Segments of Raghav’s trip will be featured in the music video for ‘Until The Sun Comes Up’, with the aim of creating significant social awareness around the topic. The UK release of the single and video is expected mid – late August.

Happy New Year SLAM Press Conference in LondonProduced by Red Chillies Entertainments Pvt Ltd, the happiest movie of the year has now another reason to be happy after grossing Rs 350 Cr worldwide (USD 15 million overseas) recently.

HNY starring Deepika Padukone, Shah Rukh Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Sonu Sood, Boman Irani and Vivaan Shah is the ultimate underdog story where a team of ‘losers , win the love of millions in their quest to pull off the biggest diamond heist ever! HNY is running strong at the Box-Office in its fourth week at Box Office.

Interview: ‘HNY is a true representation of what Bollywood stands for” – Abhishek Bachchan

Abhishek Bachchan at Happy New Year promotions in LondonThe team of Happy New Year, this year’s most anticipated Bollywood movie, descended into London to promote the film and perform at The O2 for Slam+ The Tour earlier this month. Happy New Year is a rollicking, flamboyant, colourful, witty, action-packed musical bonanza.

Director Farah Khan; actress Deepika Padukone; actors Shah Rukh Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Sonu Sood, Boman Irani and Vivaan Shah charmed the UK media at a press conference and entertained screaming fans at the world famous venue during their stay in the British capital.

Bollywood royalty Abhishek Bachchan sat down with The Asian Today’s Sunny Malik to talk about the film, posting his praises through director Farah Khan’s Twitter account and wearing tutus in the film.

How did you manage to hijack your director, Farah Khan’s Twitter account almost every day during the making of the film?
(Laughs) It is actually quite easy. She is very irresponsible with her phone. She just leaves it around. Farah can’t see very well and wears glasses, so when she doesn’t have them around, she keeps her phone really far away and types in her access code. All of us actors know the code and she just keeps leaving her phone all over the place. Also, being the director she is very busy on the set. Hence, it is quite simple for me. The tough part is to get the beautiful images of her so that I can post them (laughs). The funny thing is that she doesn’t realise it for hours and then I get a call in the middle of the night.

How did you get involved with Happy New Year?
Farah first spoke to me about Happy New Year very soon after Om Shanti Om released. We are friends and meet socially and one day she told me that she wants to make a film about the world’s worst dancers and a heist.  She said that she wanted me to be a part of it. I thought that she was joking. Farah has a sense of humour and first I didn’t know what to say. We had discussed the project and then it was put on a back burner. She revived the film and she spoke to me again. It all fell into place from there. I have literally been a part of it from inception and screenplay writing. Farah likes to discuss her work a lot. She used to discuss the plot points and asked for feedback. She kept me very involved in the entire process.

The male actors in the film have worn some really strange costumes for some scenes. How did Farah manage to convince you?
I think that was a very big concern for her, especially the ballet tutus that we wore in the film. I don’t know if it’s a bad thing, but none of the actors ever had an issue. I don’t know about Deepika (smiles). The tutus were the first thing everybody jumped into. Sonu (Sood) was freakishly comfortable in them and took them home as well. That was never an issue. From day one, when everybody signed the film, they knew the space of the film. It is mad and fun.

What are your expectations from the film after Dhoom:3?
I have very high expectations from the film. What I love about Farah is her unabashed love, passion and dedication to masala Hindi cinema. Happy New Year is exactly that. To add to that, it has a wonderful star cast, it is wonderfully mounted and dramatic, funny and emotional. It is a true representation of what Bollywood stands for.

Happy New Year is produced by Red Chillies Entertainments Pvt Ltd and distributed by Yash Raj Films and released in UK cinemas on 23rd October.

Abhishek Bachchan in Happy New Year

Interview: Deepika Padukone & Farah Khan talk about ‘Happy New Year’

Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone and director Farah Khan have come together once again after Om Shanti Om (2007). The duo sat down with Bollywood reporter Sunny Malik to talk about their new venture Happy New Year, also starring Shah Rukh Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani, Sonu Sood and Vivaan Shah.

Happy New Year is out now in UK cinemas and is released by Yash Raj Films.

Happy New Year was planned right after Main Hoon Na released in 2004. How much has the story and film evolved from the original idea?
Farah Khan: When I planned the film, I did not have a script. It was just an idea and I thought that the script will happen. But it didn’t and took quite some time. I actually wrote another script of Happy New Year and Deepika Padukone was supposed to be in the film. This happened before Om Shanti Om started rolling. It was supposed to star Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and Zayed Khan. I told Deepika that I will cast you opposite Zayed but if you are really good, then opposite Shah Rukh. Then I again, wrote another script of Happy New Year which had nothing to do with a heist. It just didn’t gel for both, Shah Rukh and me. I then quickly wrote Om Shanti Om in two weeks and luckily I had a heroine waiting (laughs). Poor thing would call me every week and ask “What’s happening? I have been offered a movie, should I take it?”
Deepika Padukone: When you are new to the industry, you don’t know how people function. I had agents and at that time it was a very new thing. Now everyone has an agent to look after their film work. They used to panic and say ‘maybe she has cast someone else’. At that point, it was a huge break for me and I wanted it to happen. Farah kept calling me though and reassured me that whenever the film happens, it will have me in it.
Farah Khan: I made her go to acting classes and she did a Kannada film so that she can be easy in front of the camera.

Deepika Padukone and Farah Khan at Happy New Year promotions in London

Farah, you announced this film, Happy New Year, after patching up with Shah Rukh…
Farah Khan: Actually, I had exactly two weeks before we patched up finished the script of Happy New Year. I didn’t even know that he will be starring in it because I wasn’t planning on approaching him. I guess it is meant to be.

A new actress was to be launched in the film. What changed your mind?
Farah Khan: Deepika didn’t have dates. She was doing a lot of movies at that time.

Happy New Year promotions in London with Deepika Padukone

Deepika, everyone is fighting for your dates…
Deepika Padukone: Nobody is fighting for me dates. Let me put this straight; she assumed that I was busy. Okay, now I am going to say this. Apparently, everyone was calling her and telling her that they want to do the movie. I never want to step on someone’s toes. She is Maa for me.
Farah Khan: I was worried that if I will ask her and she refuses it, I will die (laughs).
Deepika Padukone: I never go to a director and say ‘I want to do your movie’ and apparently, other people were doing that. Farah was wondering why I wasn’t picking up the phone and expressing my desire to do the film. Basically, we both kept talking about Happy New Year and would ask each other ‘So what’s happening?’
Farah Khan: Then finally one day I put ‘Even Czar is asking, who is the heroine of Happy New Year?’ as my BBM status.
Deepika Padukone: Then Shah Rukh asked me if I want to do the film. I told him ‘I can’t believe you guys took so long’.
Farah Khan: She was actually really busy. She was supposed to start Imtiaz Ali’s film at that time.
Deepika Padukone: I was supposed to start it back then. Happy New Year was also supposed to start around the same time. For whatever reason, Imtiaz Ali’s film got delayed and it all fell into place.

John Abraham was also supposed to star in the film.
Farah Khan: John was approached and was really excited. I guess some people are only excited beforehand.
Deepika Padukone: I guess, when you are making a film and you have just two actors, it is much easier to put it together and with six people it gets complicated. Someone can be confirmed in the beginning but by the time the film stars rolling, things can change.
Farah Khan: People also get a bit nervous as it has an ensemble cast. It is one of the few ensemble movies where everyone has good part to play. I can’t say that Boman’s role is not important.

Farah Khan at Happy New Year promotions in LondonHow did you manage to keep everyone happy give every character importance?
Farah Khan: All my actors were fabulous team players. See, it starts with Shah Rukh. If he decides to be the ‘star’ then it permeates down but he, Abhishek and Deepika were excellent team players. Everyone decided that it’s not a film about one person. It’s not easy to manage six actors. Just getting on the set on time takes a lot.

You are quite temperamental as a director right?
Farah Khan: No!
Deepika Padukone: Even her shouting has so much humour. We are usually laughing when she shouts.
Farah Khan: I would be temperamental if I don’t shout one day and I shout on another but I do it every day (laughs).

Happy New Year is out now in UK cinemas.
