Shootout at Wadala has been produced by Balaji Motion Pictures and White Feather Films, and directed by Sanjay Gupta.
Starring Anil Kapoor, John Abraham, Tusshar, Manoj Bajpayee, Sonu Sood, Kangana Ranaut, Mahesh Manjrekar, Ronit Roy and a host of others, the film dramatizes the first-ever registered encounter by the Mumbai police, where gangster Manya Surve was shot dead at the junction next to Ambedkar college, Wadalba, Mumbai, back in 1982. It is the next installment in the Shootout series, the first being the 2007 hit, Shootout At Lokhandwala.
The Shootout At Wadala team took out time from their busy promotions in Dubai to visit the Rashid Centre, set up for challenged children with special needs.
His Highness Sheikh Juma Al Maktoum warmly greeted the SAW team comprising Anil Kapoor, John Abraham, Tusshar, Manoj Bajpai, Sunny Leone, Sophie Choudry, Pakistani crooner Mustafa Zahid (who has rendered the hit ‘Yeh Junoon’ track in the film) and Balaji CEO Tanuj Garg. Actor Sonu Sood was unable to attend because of his leg injury.
The children put up a special act for the celebrity guests following which the latter raised a huge sum of money for them by way of a charity auction. John and Mustafa even broke into an impromptu dance at the end, as the guests cheered.

With the sensational news about the dazzling cameos of Priyanka Chopra, Sunny Leone and Sophie Choudry in Shootout At Wadala, having created a splash, the film’s fourth female dimension comes in the form of the heroine, Kangana Ranaut.
Kangana plays the role of Vidya who is Manya Surve’s (John Abraham) love interest. While there is no mention of Vidya in S. Hussain Zaidi’s best-seller ‘Dongri To Dubai’ (from which a part of the film has been inspired), director Sanjay Gupta learnt of her existence through his interaction with the Police while researching for the film.
Reveals Sanjay, “The Police know about Vidya. So do the residents of Mumbai’s Dadar and Agar Bazaar areas where she is folklore. Many believe that she betrayed Manya, which led to his encounter. No one knows what happened to her after Manya’s death.”
On his decision to cast Kangana, he adds, “The role of Vidya was written originally with Vidya Balan in mind, as we needed a powerhouse actress to pull off the film’s emotional dimension. When it didn’t work out, we opted for Kangana, as she is a fantastic actress. She has really stood her own amid the men in the film and delivered a knock-out performance.”
Interestingly, Kangana’s de-glam cotton-sari look, make-up and hair have been styled on the lines of Shabana Azmi’s character from ‘Arth’. Concludes Gupta, “She’s done something she hasn’t done before.”
Eros International will release the film in UK cinemas on 3rd May.

Says a trade source, “This is a year that will highlight Kangana’s careers finest. She has 7 of her films releasing consecutively – While Queen, Revolver Rani and Rajjo see her in woman-oriented drama roles. She balances it out with commercial offerings like Shootout at Wadala, Krrish 3 and Ungli. She is soon emerging a talent to reckon with, with several directors and industry wallas vouching for her and the proof of it lies in the number of films that have been offered to her.”
The actress will be next seen in UK cinemas in Shootout at Wadala, releasing in UK cinemas through Eros International on 1st May 2013.
The keenly awaited dance tune, ‘Laila Teri Le Legi’ featuring John Abraham, Tusshar and the sensational Sunny Leone, was recently under the Censor Board scanner. Complying with The Central Board of Film Certificate (CBFC), the makers have altered the lyrics to ‘Laila Teri Loot Legi’ in order to get the promo on air for television promotion.
Says director Sanjay Gupta,“The original version of the song had the lyrics, Laila Teri Le Legi. If we had to retain these words, the Censor Board would’ve given it an adult rating and we would not have been able to air the track on television during prime time. So we have changed the words to Laila Tujhe Loot Legi.”
Adds Tanuj Garg, CEO Balaji Motion Pictures, “Various modifications had to be made in the promo at the behest of CBFC to get it aired on TV”.
Balaji Motion Pictures and White Feather Films’ Shootout At Wadala, directed by Sanjay Gupta, stars Anil Kapoor, John Abraham, Kangana Ranaut, Manoj Bajpai, Tusshar, Sonu Sood, Mahesh Manjrekar, Ronit Roy & Siddhant Kapoor, with Priyanka Chopra, Sunny Leone and Sophie Choudry in special appearances.

The last time Akshay Kumar worked on a Sunday was when he was shooting for Priyadarshan’s Bhagam Bhag in 2006. Back then, Akshay set a rule for himself of never to work on a Sunday and dedicated that one day of the week to his family. But now, he has broken his own rule for Milan Luthria’s Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai.
“Milan was not well, due to which the shoot was delayed for three days. So Akshay agreed to work on 7th April (Sunday) to make up for lost time. Since this is the film’s last schedule, the makers can’t push it any further. The permission and availability of the shooting venue (at Ballard Estate in south Mumbai) is also a constraint,” says an insider from the unit.
To make sure they catch up on lost time, Akshay and co-stars Imran Khan and Sonakshi Sinha started shooting at 7 am on Sunday. “The shoot went on all day till the sun went down. The idea was to finish as much as they could,” adds the insider.
Milan confirms the news, saying “Yes, I have asked Akshay for a big favour (by making him work on a Sunday). But what we shot on 7th April is an interesting sequence,” he says, adding, “I haven’t told him yet, but I need him to work next Sunday too.”
The sequel to the 2010 gangster film is expected to release on Eid this year.
Sunny Leone is the new item girl in B-Town. The Canadian actress will now be seen in Ekta Kapoor’s Shootout at Wadala in the item song Laila, also featuring John Abraham and Tushar Kapoor.
The film will release on 3rd May 2013.
Priyanka Chopra launched her item song Babli Badmaash from the upcoming John Abraham- Anil Kapoor flick Shooutout at Wadala recently.
The bash was also attended by producer Ekta Kapoor and director Sanjay Gupta. Check out the photos here:
In a first, Priyanka Chopra is seen dancing to a special number in the forthcoming Sanjay Gupta-directed ‘Shootout At Wadala’. Titled Babli Badmaash, the retro-style track is an ode to the energetic 80s. It has been composed by Anu Malik, rendered by Sunidhi Chauhan, written by Kumaar and choreographed by Ahmed Khan.
Says Ekta Kapoor, “Priyanka’s first association with Balaji had to be special. We went through numerous tracks before finalising on what we all felt was a winner. Priyanka has taken it to a new level and will become synonymous with Babli.”
Adds Tanuj Garg, CEO – Balaji Motion Pictures, “Priyanka’s inclusion in the project further elevates the potential blockbuster status of Shootout At Wadala.”
Priyanka’s look in the track is designed by Manish Malhotra. It is a tribute to Amitabh Bachchan’s famous bulb outfit from ‘Yaarana’ (1981), with a modern twist. It’s made of leather and rubber (reminiscent of Zeenat Aman’s erstwhile slinky gowns) with LED lights fitted to it, accentuating Priyanka’s sexy curves.
Ekta Kapoor and Sanjay Gupta’s keenly awaited drama Shootout at Wadala, is becoming bigger and bigger with every passing day.
The latest is that Priyanka Chopra has been roped in for a sensational item song in the multi-starrer.
Titled ‘Babli Badmaash’, the track will be shot next week in Mumbai. Ahmed Khan will choreograph the ‘futuristic retro’ track.
Priyanka’s look is being designed by Manish Malhotra and the actress has been taking personal interest in it to ensure that it is the most spectacular track of the year.
This is Priyanka’s first ever item track for an outside film and both Balaji and Priyanka are keen to make it special. This also marks Priyanka and Balaji’s first association.
The actress has also been confirmed for Balaji and Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Milan Talkies opposite Imran Khan, commencing later this year.
‘Babli Badmaash’ has been rendered by Sunidhi Chauhan and composed by Anu Malik.
