John Abraham returns to UK screens with Satyameva Jayate

John Abraham is back doing what he does best… in an heart racing action thriller that will have you questioning right and wrong. In true vigilante movie style, Abraham launches on to the screen as a kind, caring and immensely moral character, he has loved and lost… and now wants the corrupt to pay.

In a city of 200,000 policemen tasked with the safety of the people of Mumbai, a significant number don’t necessarily have the “cleanest” of vardis (uniforms).

When four such ‘dirty’ police inspectors are burnt alive in a series of merciless killings, the entire police force is rocked with terror. The media is looking for answers. The public is on the fence over these killings.

John AbrahamThese crimes reflect Vir (John Abraham) as a person. Bold, Calculating, and Unapologetic. He’s not scared of killing, or dying. It was clear that he had an agenda. A reason, a drive behind these deaths and he was far from done.

Fearing the next attack, the Commissioner calls upon one of their best bet to catch Vir. DCP Shivansh (Manoj Bajpayee) is what a proper policeman looks like. Strong, Courageous, Patriotic and most importantly, “Clean.” And of course, he’s the best at what he does.

What follows is a succession of events that will test his Probity to the fullest. He is up against Vir, who is a vigilante and will stop at nothing to complete his mission.

The trailer to Satyameva Jayate is a power packed three-minute ride… reminding audiences what makes Abraham such a great action hero. Adding more colour and depth to the film are two fabulous tracks released so far.

‘Dilbar ‘sung by Neha Kakkad is a reprise of the original track from the film Sirf Tum, and the new version sees former Big Boss star Norah Fatehi showing off some serious moves and helping the video hit over 76 million views in two weeks!

The second track ‘Paniyon Sa’ shows Abraham’s softer side with co-star Aisha Sharma. This beautiful track features the vocals of Atif Aslam and Tulsi Kumar.

Directed by Milap Milan Zaveri and produced by T-Series’ Bhushan Kumar and Nikhhil Advani, Satyameva Jayate stars John Abraham, Manoj Bajpayee, Aisha Sharma and  Amruta Khanvilkar.

The film releases nationwide on 15th August and is distributed by Rising Star Entertainment in the UK.

Is John the new ‘Dutt’ in Sanjay Gupta’s life ?

John Abraham in Shooutout at WadalaPlaying the dreaded gangster Manya Surve in Shootout at Wadala proved to be a turning point in the career of John Abraham. The actor had never been seen or presented that way before. The success of the film also created a strong bond between John and his director Sanjay Gupta.

Sanjay earlier had a long association with Sanjay Dutt and worked with him in all his films until their fall out. The industry today says that John is the new Dutt in Gupta’s life. The two are back together again and this time Gupta is bringing John in a totally new avatar.

John will play a hardened cop in Gupta’s new magnum opus Mumbai Saga. The character is based on a real life encounter specialist who rose to notorious heights in the 90’s. Both John and Gupta are tight-lipped about the identity of the cop. However our sources tell us that it’s based on Vijay Salasker the famous encounter specialist who died in the 26/11 attacks.

When asked Gupta said, “Yes John will play a hardened encounter specialist in Mumbai Saga. It’s the kind of character he hasn’t played before. It is a conscious decision on our part to push the envelope with every film we do. John is one of the most underrated actors and I intend to change that. But the character has nothing to do with the late Vijay Salaskar.”

When questioned about Dutt, Gupta replied, ‘ No one replaces anyone, life moves on. Sanju will always be a very special part of my life. But now John and me have new heights to scale.’

‘Madras Cafe’ To Be Boycotted by Canadian Sri Lankan Tamil Community

John Abraham 1 - Madras CafeThe controversial political thriller film Madras Cafe has caused its first stir amongst the international population with stories emerging that the prominent Sri Lankan Tamil community in Canada are planning to boycott the film because of the sensitive material depicted. Recent reports also say that the film will be banned in the South Indian city of Chennai in Tamil Nadu which has a large Tamil population.

Madras Café is set against the backdrop of the tumultuous and much-publicised Sri Lankan civil war of the 1980s. The subject matter in the film touches upon the inflammatory issues regarding the various factions involved in the drawn-out bloody and brutal conflict, including India’s involvement. The 26 year-long feud finally came to an end in 2009 with the military defeat of the separatist Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).

A JA Entertainment and Rising Sun Films Production, Madras Café sees award-winning actor John Abraham (Force, Academy Award Nominated Water, Jism) turn producer for the second time in his career after the international success of the off-beat comedy Vicky Donor. At the directorial helm is avant-garde independent film maker and producer Shoojit Sircar, who is responsible for such well-received films as Vicky Donor and Yahaan, for which he won the Indian Competition Special Jury Award at Osian’s Cinefan Festival of Asian and Arab Cinema.

Madras Café provides a timely reminder of the gruesome conflict that claimed thousands of Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim lives and left millions of people displaced and desolate. The war’s impact was felt across the world with both Eastern and Western nations involved in the negotiations for a resolution.

Madras Cafe 3John Abraham performs the role of Captain Vikram Singh, an accomplished Para Military Officer recruited by the R&AW’s (India’s external security agency) Indian head Robin Dutt (RD) – with the mandate to execute certain covert Intelligence operations in Jaffna, Sri Lanka, and conduct peaceful provincial council elections. However, as Vikram delves deeper into his covert operations against a faceless enemy in a daring game of cat-and-mouse, he suddenly becomes the hunted. Soon the beleaguered Vikram realises that there is a leak within his own group.

As Vikram finds himself embroiled deeper into the ‘game’, he steps into a sinister and bigger plan – a conspiracy to remove an important Indian leader. Vikram’s primary task is to figure out the ‘who, when, why and what’ of this conspiracy, with very little time at hand. With RD’s full support, he attempts to uncover and stop this conspiracy from happening. And that too against opponents that are shrewd, vile, unseen, unknown, besides having to deal with an internal, almost indifferent, sceptical political system.

Vikram’s quest for the truth sees him team up with an ally in the field – an Indo-Western journalist named ‘Jaya’ (Nargis Fakhri). Together they set about finding the truth amongst a complex web of lies and deceit, and begin telling the world their incredible story.

John Abraham in Shooutout at WadalaAfter the stupendous success of Shootout at Wadala, director Sanjay Gupta joins forces with Action Abraham yet again for an epic revenge saga which looks to redefine the action space in Bollywood.

On the lines of Hollywood blockbusters like Kill Bill and Django Unchained, the untitled one-man-army film is amongst Bollywood’s most ambitious yet and who better than director Sanjay Gupta to helm the project.

If sources are to be believed, the makers promise to give it a similar status that Sunny Deol’s Ghayal had back in the day –The film will also see John Abraham pushing the envelope in the action space ,with high adrenaline stunts without body doubles in signature Sanjay Gupta style.

A source revealed, “Sanjay Gupta joins hands with John Abraham for an epic revenge saga which is on the lines of a Bollywood Rambo…..When dabbling with the script the director could think of no one better than John to essay the role of the protagonist since he has the physique to carry off the character and is synonymous with “action”…The film will be made on par international standards with a contemporary linear treatment”
