Deepika Padukone shines this awards seasons

2013 has undoubtedly been Deepika Padukone’s year with four major blockbusters at the box-office starring the talented diva. 2014, too, has begun on a high note for her. The actor was all smiles, as she graced the red carpet of Filmfare Awards 2014, winning the Best Actor Trophy for her performance in Goliyon Ki Raasleela: Ram-leela.

Deepika made a million heads turn at the star-studded night, with her daring golden gown by designer Gaurav Gupta. Deepika was nominated as the best actor for two of her films – Goliyon Ki Raasleela: Ram-leela and Chennai Express for Filmfare Awards. On receiving the prestigious black lady, Deepika said, “Thank you Idea and Filmfare. This is for my mother. I missed her during the shoot. This award is very special for me. As a child, Filmfare Awards was one thing we would sit and see together in family. I never thought one day I’ll be here receiving an award. Thank you Sanjay Leela Bhansali for giving such an opportunity. Thank you Ranveer for being a good co-star. 2013 was a good year for me”

Deepika is certainly on a winning streak this awards season. The Filmfare award seemed to be the icing on the cake, after having bagged the Best Actor trophies at two other prestigious award ceremonies.

At the Screen Awards, the gorgeous diva won Best Actress (Jury Award) and Best Actress (Popular) for Goliyon Ki Raasleela: Ram-leela and Chennai Express respectively. At the Star Guild Awards, Deepika was nominated in the Best Actress category for three of her films- Chennai Express, Goliyon Ki Raasleela: Ram-leela and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. It was Chennai Express that won her the ‘Best Actress’ Star Guild award.

The BIG Star Entertainment awards also saw Deepika Padukone walking away with three BIG trophies, for ‘Best Actress’, ‘Most Entertaining Comedy Actress’ & ‘Best Jodi’ with her Chennai Express co-star Shah Rukh Khan.

For Deepika, the reasons to celebrate never seem to end. While the party will go on, Deepika has ensured that she continues to enthrall the audience in 2014, as well. The actor will be seen in Rajinikanth’s magnum opus Kochadaiiyaan, Finding Fanny Fernandes with Arjun Kapoor and Happy New Year with King Khan.

‘Dhoom:3’ breaks all records – beats ‘Chennai Express’ at UK BO

Yash Raj Films’ Dhoom:3 continues to create history at both the Indian and Overseas Box Office.

It is now officially the first Indian Film to cross ₹ 500 Crores Worldwide, making it the biggest Motion Picture Event of all time.

Dhoom:3 is also the highest grossing Bollywood film of 2013 in the United Kingdom earning £2,488,265 in its third weekend beating the UK lifetime collections of Chennai Express (13 weeks) of £2,181,277.

SRK and Honey Singh come together for ‘Chennai Express’

SRK in Chennai ExpressIndian rapping sensation Honey Singh has recorded a special tribute track to Southern superstar Rajnikanth for Shah Rukh Khan’s forthcoming film Chennai Express, also starring Deepika Padukone.

Honey Singh became a popular recording artist for Bollywood soundtracks after singing two tracks for Deepika Padukone’s superhit Cocktail in 2012. 

A source close to Honey Singh  revealed  “He was surprised to get a call from Shah Rukh about a special song”.

The rapper himself has exclaimed his excitement, “I was very surprised and happy to hear from Shah Rukh bhai. He said he wanted me to do a particular song. I wrote and composed the song while I was in Mauritius. Both Shah Rukh bhai and I are huge Rajinikanth fans. This number is our tribute to him.”

When asked if Chennai Express music composers Vishal-Shekhar were aware of his song featuring on the soundtrack, Singh shrugged, “What can I do? Shah Rukh bhai asked me to do a song I couldn’t refuse!”.

Singh already believes that the song will impress both Khan and Rajnikanth fans alike, “I can tell you this much. When the song comes out it will be a craze among not just Shah Rukh and my fans, but also among Rajini Sir’s fans.”

Directed by Rohit Shetty, Chennai Express releases in UK cinemas on 8th August 2013. 

Deepika and SRK launch ‘Chennai Express’ music

Chennai Express - Deepika Padukone and Shah Rukh Khan in TitliThe first look of UTV Motion Pictures’ and Red Chillies Entertainments Pvt Ltd.’s Chennai Express created a frenzy amongst fans. To take that excitement further the much awaited music of Chennai Express was launched today at a star studded event in Mumbai in the presence of actress Deepika Padukone, Shah Rukh Khan – Actor and Producer, Red Chillies Entertainments Pvt Ltd, Ronnie Screwvala – Managing Director, Disney UTV, Bhushan Kumar, Chairman and Managing Director, T-Series, director Rohit Shetty and music directors Vishal-Shekhar. Songs released from the movie are already topping the popular music charts.

The album boasts of an array of eight songs from foot tapping dance numbers like ‘1234 Get on the dance floor’ and ‘Ready Steady Po’ to a soulful rendition like ‘Titli’, from love songs to total entertainment ones like ‘Chipak Chipak Ke’, ‘Tera Rasta Chhodon Na’, ‘Kashmir Main, Tu Kanyakumari’ and even the title track ‘Chennai Express’ which is specially sung by S P Balasubramaniam. The lyrics for the album have been written by Amitabh Bhattacharya.

Chennai Express has been a reunion of sorts for me. My first film was with SRK as a co-star, Manish Malhotra did my costumes and Vishal-Shekhar composed the music. I love all the songs and the way Vishal-Shekhar have beautifully amalgamated the theme and the tracks. Titli is my favourite one,” said actress Deepika Padukone.

Commenting on the music Shah Rukh Khan said, “Music breathes life into a film and Vishal-Shekhar have exactly done that with the songs of Chennai Express. I have always had a great working experience with them. There’s a song for everyone in the album. My personal favourites are Tera Raasta Chodu Na and Titli. Hope you’ve liked them too!”

“I am very excited about the music of our film because of Vishal and Shekhar. They have put together a brilliant album keeping the theme of the film in mind. Having worked with them for Golmaal 1, I am very glad that we have come together for Chennai Express too,” said director Rohit Shetty.

‘The music of Chennai Express, like the movie itself, is very fresh. Vishal and Shekhar have woven in south Indian influences in the tracks, making an interesting and differentiated offering. There are big ticket celebratory numbers like 1,2,3,4 as well beautiful melodies like Titli. Chennai Express to release in UK cinemas on 8th August

Chennai Express UK ReleaseUTV Motion Pictures’ and Red Chillies Entertainment is set to release Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer Chennai Express, directed by Rohit Shetty, in UK cinemas on 8th August 2013.

Chennai Express is the story of a Mumbai boy (Shah Rukh Khan) who embarks on a journey to a small town in Tamil Nadu, only to fulfill the last wish of his grandfather to have his ashes immersed in Rameshwaram. En route, he meets a South Indian girl (Deepika Padukone) hailing from an orthodox family.

As they find love through this journey in the exuberant lands of South India, the clash of cultures awaits them. What follows is a series of adventures where he finds himself in new surroundings, challenged with an unfamiliar language!

The film is a romantic action comedy and is one of the most anticipated Bollywood films this year.

Set to delight audiences across the globe, Chennai Express features music from Vishal-Shekhar and lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya and is produced by UTV Motion Pictures and Red Chillies Entertainment.

Rohit Shetty adjusts Deepika Padukone’s dates for YJHD

Ayaan and DeepikaRohit Shetty is known to share a good equation with most of the actors he works with. So, when Ayan reached Wai to discuss Deepika’s dates, who is also the leading lady of Rohit’s next Chennai Express, to complete his film, Rohit was more than happy to adjust her dates.

Sources reveal, “Rohit has wrapped up the Wai schedule of his film and will leave for Ooty. Deepika too was supposed to join them but having learnt about Ayan’s shooting requirements, Rohit happily gave away two dates – April 10 and 11.”

Deepika will first shoot in Mumbai and complete the Yeh Jawaani hai Deewani schedule and then reach Ooty on April 12 to join her Chennai Express team.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani is set to release on 31st May in UK cinemas through Eros International and is produced by Karan Johar.

Rohit Shetty at his Stunt Mans Rescue

Rohit Shetty cancelled the day’s shooting of Chennai Express recently after stuntman Shankar Anna suffered burn injuries on location in Wai.

The incident took place on Friday while shooting a car chase sequence. The car Shankar was driving developed a leak and the vehicle caught fire.

A source from the unit said that Shankar was wearing a fire suit, which was a relief. The source further added, “Rohit got the fire put out quickly and took Shankar Anna to the hospital in his own car. He made sure that the doctors attended to him and also stayed over at the hospital to oversee his treatment and care.”

While SRK wasn’t on location when the accident happened, we’re told that he remained in contact with Rohit about Shankar’s treatment and suggested they move him to Mumbai for better treatment.

Deepika Padukone comes before SRK in ‘Chennai Express’

Chennai Express On the occasion of Woman’s Day, Shah Rukh Khan gave a pleasant surprise to his leading lady Deepika Padukone. The superstar announced that starting from Chennai Express; all his films will have the leading ladies’ names appearing before his in the credit titles.

In Chennai Express, Deepika will be sharing screen space with Shah Rukh Khan for the second time after her big debut against the superstar in Om Shanti Om. She gladly acknowledged the senior actor’s chivalrous gesture, “small thoughts bring about big changes. It’s a wonderful initiative not to prove that women are more powerful than men but to create awareness that men and women are equal in all fields and professions. Shahrukh has always believed woman are equal…not only in the way he interacts with us but also in his films. I’ve experienced that first hand with Om Shanti Om and now on Chennai Express and I believe this gesture of his is an extension on that. Thank you Shah.”

And this, probably, resolves the rumor hounding their fans about their tiff!!

Deepika Padukone will be seen next in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, releasing in UK cinemas through Eros International 0n 31st May. 

“SRK makes me feel special” – Deepika Padukone

SRK and DeepikaDeepika Padukone, who made a dream debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan in UK blockbuster Om Shanti Om reunites with the superstar on screen for Chennai Express and says the two are closer now.

“I feel Shah Rukh is still the same. He is as talented as he was (then). Now I have got even closer to him than before. You never get bored with him! He always makes me feel special,” Deepika told IANS.

The actress is busy juggling commitments for her two films, Chennai Express and Ram Leela.

“For Chennai Express, we are shooting in the outskirts of Mumbai, and Ram Leela will be shot in Mumbai, Gujarat and Rajasthan,” she said.

Ram Leela is a project by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and Deepika features opposite Ranveer Singh in it.

The sultry actress will be seen next in Race 2, releasing in UK cinemas on 25th January 2013.
