The year is 2009. The world has been struck by the financial meltdown. But Nick Mathur and Jerry Patel don’t feel a thing in their comfortable pad in London. Nick feels smug with his successful investment banking job, the new bonus in his pocket and his beautiful fiancé, Radhika, by his side, while Jerry is so used to scraping the bottom of the barrel and living off his best buddy Nick, that recession feels like home. But life has a way of pulling the rug from under our feet. Nick and Jerry stop smiling the day Nick’s company decides to downsize and unceremoniously fires him. And Jerry is informed by the Social Services that his nephew Veer, who’s local guardian Jerry is will be placed in a foster home unless he gets a steady job. John Abraham and Rohit Dhawan in London

On the 6th of April 2011, Bollywood hunk John Abraham filmed scenes for Desi Boyz in Hatton Garden. The area is is most famous for being London’s jewellery quarter and centre of the UK diamond trade. Of course, director Rohit Dhawan was there too. He and the crew handled everything really well considering it was being filmed on a public street which had to be closed for a few minutes only for the shoot and was reopened to the public and vehicles thereafter.
Abraham was spotted riding a bike on the road. The 38-year-old Indian actor was wearing the same costume he was spotted wearing at other locations for the film .

John  had another schedule later that day with Deepika Padukone at the Palace Theater, Cambridge Circus.
Check out these exclusive pictures of John with his bike:

Spotted: Akshay Kumar, Aarav Bhatia, John Abraham, Deepika and Rohit Dhawan in London

On the 14th of April 2011, Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar spent his day filming in Central London for Rohit Dhawan’s Desi Boyz with his co-star John Abraham. The actors play friends in the film, who live in London.  A scene, in which Akshay has to convince Abraham to do something one last time was filmed on Shad Thames, a historic riverside street near Tower Bridge.

During the lunch break, Akshay Kumar enjoyed walking around and his son had fun feeding the ducks. While, Akshay enjoyed a healthy lunch at Zizzi with his son Aarav and his trainer, John indulged into Bengali food at the Bengali Clipper. Deepika Padukone, who had a day off came to visit her co-actors after shopping in London. She was sipping her coffee at Pizza Express and observed some of the filming through the windows. Padukone later joined them and seemed to enjoy the company of her male co-stars. She also spent some time walking around with Aarav Bhatia, Kumar’s son and it looked like that she really liked the boy.

Deepika was also asked by some fans for pictures but she refused everyone which is understandable, as she has a huge fan following in London and things can get out of control if she interacts with her fans without a bodyguard. I spoke to her and told her how much I loved her performance in Love Aaj Kal and she was as lovely as always.

Akshay Kumar and John Abraham on the cover of Ishq Magazine No. 52

I interviewed Akshay Kumar about Desi Boyz a few weeks ago and he will be on the cover of the new Ishq Magazine issue with John Abraham. The issue will be out next week.

An Exclusive Interview excerpt  :

You shot scenes with Abraham at The Shadow Lounge; an exclusive gay club  in Soho (London) was that awkward?
Also, were you hesitant about the  stripping and pole dancing scenes?

Haha – yes it was a lot of fun. Especially because I love to dance and I  have never done anything of this sort earlier so it was quite  interesting that way.  Initially we were a bit awkward with the idea but  once you get into the groove, it’s quite a liberating experience.

Spotted: Omi Vadiya & Deepika Padukone in London for Desi Boyz

I don’t know how to say this but its a scene at the same house again! (Read more about the London shoot here: Desi Boyz)
I also spotted Omi Vadiya at the house, who only filmed in the UK for a few days. He shot his scenes outside with Deepika Padukone in a white funky costume wearing spectacles. The scene looked like they were coming back home from a party or a date.

Deepika Padukone was shocked to see more than 50 people running towards her when she came out of the house in the evening to film a scene wearing a skirt. She only said “Oh My God” looking at the bizarre scene, just before she was surrounded by her bodyguard and the production crew. The director, assistant directors, production team and security guards had to stop fans who tried to get too close to the Om Shanti Om actress.

John Abraham, Deepika Padukone and Anupam Kher on the sets of Desi Boyz

It’s the same place again! The famous house in Northwood which was used as Deepika and Anupam Kher’s residence for the shooting. To find out more about the filming in the UK read everything here: Desi Boyz in London

After shooting scenes together inside the house (a breakfast or lunch scene was being shot) Deepika Padukone, John Abraham and Anupam Kher came outside to see the sequences they just had filmed. As DP wore very short dresses and clothes for the film, she usually covered herself up immediately to avoid people staring at her, I suppose.

Exclusive! Spotted: Deepika Padukone in shorts for Desi Boyz

Same place (Northwood)! Same House! To find out more details about the location used in that area read my report here.

A big fan was used for a scene to blow Deepika’s hair in true Bollywood style! I loved the way she performed in that sequence. She picks up a newspaper and then walks towards the street from her front yard! A limousine was also used for this scene but I don’t want to give away too much!

‘Jhak Maar Ke’ from ‘Desi Boyz’ + Exclusive Location Pictures

Eros International has just released the trailer of ‘Jhak Maar Ke’ from their upcoming film ‘Desi Boyz’. Set in London and Oxford, with some scenes shot in India and Malaysia as well, this years most anticipated comedy flick is helmed by first time director Rohit Dhawan and stars Akshay Kumar, John Abraham, Deepika Padukone,Chitrangada Singh, Omi Vaidya and Anupam Kher.

Watch the trailer of the song feat. Deepika and John, shot in London & Brighton in high definition below;

This song was filmed in Northwood, St Katherine Docks, Leadenhall Market and Brighton.

Check out some on location pictures of the set in Northwood:

The shooting for ‘Jhaak Maar Ke’ started at the end of March and this house below on The Broad Walk in Northwood was used for some scenes as seen in the introduction shots. In Desi Boyz, the character of Radhika Awasthi(Deepika) lives at this residence with her father played by Anupam Kher.

This is the balcony where Deepika is seen coming out in the trailer of the song.

The main road, The Broad Walk and Lowswood Close were used to shoot scenes for this song which are seen in the trailer too.

This caravan was used as John Abraham’s temporary place to live as Deepika Padukone’s character seems upset with him for some reason.

The funky Caravan seen in this song

While Leadenhall Market in London was used in ‘Twist’ from ‘Love Aaj Kal’ before, I think it was the first time that John or Deepika actually shot there for a film. The crew also went to Brighton for a total of two days.

They filmed there for a day in March and were supposed to shoot in Brighton the following week but it was canceled at the last-minute and relocated to London. They then shot at St. Katherine Docks in London where John was seen dancing with a number of background dancers. St. Katherine Docks in Central London was alien to Deepika but John had shot there before for ‘Jhoota Hi Sahi’.
However, they did go back to Brighton for another day where Deepika was spotted dancing on Brighton Pier. The song is being described as ‘funky’ and predicted a super hit.

Spotted: John Abraham being mobbed on the streets of London (March 2011)

John Abraham filmed scenes for his upcoming film Desi Boyz at a house  in Northwood (London) .
As the word of the filming spread around, especially in an area where many Indians live, it was only a matter of a few hours that more than fifty fans were standing outside the house to catch a glimpse of their favourite actors. Many girls and aunties were shouting “We want John” repeatedly and some had been waiting for over five hours.

The Jhoota Hi Sahi star did come out for a few seconds to check if the scene he just filmed inside the house was satisfactory or needed to be reshot. While I was chatting with the Indian crew members, I overheard a mother asking her five year old son if he knows who that guy is (pointing at John Abraham).

The little boy replied: “Kunal from Dostana!”

John decided to meet them for a few minutes and within a few seconds he was surrounded by a lot of people. He posed for pictures, signed mobile covers and was basically mobbed like never before. His security guard was joined by Deepika Padukone’s bodyguard and they had a tough time when the road was blocked with fans trying to get pictures of the star.
