Ayan Mukerji’s much-awaited fantasy action-adventure Brahmāstra Part One: Shiva starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Mouni Roy, and Amitabh Bachchan has topped the global Box Office charts for the weekend 9th-11th September.
As per Comscore, the film raked in a total of $23.9M (£20.4M) from three territories, USA/Canada, India and the UK, where Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures released the film for 20th Century Studios and Star Studios.
In the UK and Ireland, Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures UK gave Brahmāstra Part One: Shiva the second-widest release ever for an Indian title, with 220 locations. The film raked in £516,943 from Hindi (2D, 3D, 2D IMAX), Tamil, and Telugu versions with no previews, debuting at No.4 on the UK Box Office ranking.
The film is the third-highest opener for an Indian title in the UK and Ireland this year, just behind RRR (£693,587) and K.G.F: Chapter 2 (£612,327).
The Ranbir-Alia starrer is a India-UK production, with visual effects created by London-based Award-winning studio DNEG.
In Australia and New Zealand, sub-distributors for Disney released the Karan Johar production across both countries.
Brahmāstra Part One: Shiva is the first Indian title to debut at No.1 at the Australian Box Office, collecting A$903,783 from 131 locations, with an impressive A$6,899 site average.
In New Zealand, the film also landed at No.1 at the Box Office, earning NZ$204,290 from 34 locations.
The director and writer of the film, Ayan Mukerji, has already teased the next installment of his Astraverse film; Brahmāstra Part Two: Dev.
