The acclaimed film director Vidhu Vinod Chopra, famed for making India’s biggest blockbuster of all time PK as well as other critically-acclaimed cinematic hits, such as 3 Idiots, will take part in a special student masterclass at the world-famous SOAS, University of London, on Friday, 27th March 2015.
Vidhu Vinod Chopra also has the notable honour of being the first Indian filmmaker to write, produce and direct a Hollywood film with his new offering Broken Horses, which releases on 10th April 2015 through UTV Motion Pictures. The film has already gained critical acclaim from Hollywood legends James Cameron (Titanic, Avatar) and Alfonso Cuaron (Gravity).
The ‘In Conversation’ interview session is hosted by the National Indian Students Union UK and SOAS South Asia Institute, and will be chaired by renowned author and SOAS’ Professor of Indian Cultures and Cinema Rachel Dwyer.
The audience in the atmospheric Khalili Lecture Theatre will be entertained with 1.5 hours of lively, thought-provoking conversation, as Vidhu Vinod Chopra speaks candidly about his process for making such sincere and society-challenging films as Broken Horses, PK, the Munnabhai Series and 3 Idiots. He will also compare the experiences of working in Bollywood and Hollywood and where are the synergies for convergence between the two cinemas.
Set in the shadows of the US–Mexico border gang wars, Broken Horses is an epic thriller about the bonds of brotherhood, the laws of loyalty, and the futility of violence.
Broken Horses will be released internationally through UTV Motion Pictures on 10th April 2015.
