Radhika Apte in MTV International’s next

Radhika ApteIt’s has become a quite a trend to include Bollywood actors in Hollywood projects these days.

Now Radhika Apte will be seen in an upcoming MTV International project, which is yet untitled. It will have seven renowned international directors roped in to make an ensemble of short films, including Gael Garcia Bernal the famous Mexican actor and director.

The project will have Anurag Kashyap representing India in the bunch of directors. This most talked about project features Radhika Apte as the lead actress along side Satyadeep Mishra. All the films will be based on common theme of forbidden love.

“I am very keen on doing more international work so when this opportunity presented itself I was more than thrilled. I have worked with Anurag before and I am extremely fond of his work. This is a very prestigious project. The part is also very challenging. I am very happy and feel grateful that I was cast for this,” said Radhika Apte.

Sidharth Malhotra impresses Anurag Kashyap

Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra - Hasee Toh PhaseeOne film old Sidharth Malhotra charmed several women with his looks in Student of the Year in 2012 and now filmmaker Anurag Kahsyap is impressed with his acting skills.

The 29-year-old will be seen with Parineeti Chopra in Vinil Mathew’s directorial debut Hasee Toh Phasee, which releases in UK cinemas on Friday, 7th February 2014.

“Sidharth is fabulous in the film and the kind of restraint and focus he has shown in ‘Hasee Toh Phasee’ is impressive. He is so real and believable to the extent that I did not expect it from him,” Kashyap said in a statement.

According to a source, the Gangs of Wasseypur director is writing a film keeping Sidharth in mind.

“While SOTY (Student Of The Year) established Sidharth’s fan base, Hasee Toh Phasee is here to introduce Sidharth Malhotra-the actor. Just two films old, the actor has managed to impress some of the biggest names in the industry, the latest being Anurag Kashyap who is very impressed with Sidharth and is keen on writing a film keeping him in mind,” said a source.

Karan Johar in ‘Bombay Velvet’ with Ranbir Kapoor

Jab Tak Hai Jaan - Premiere - Karan JoharDirector, producer, writer, chat show host, reality dance show judge: Karan Johar’s CV could rival that of the very best in showbiz. But the one thing the 41-year-old hasn’t done — a few cameos aside — is take up a serious acting role. Now, that is set to change.

A few days ago, Karan decided to take up an offer to act in Anurag Kashyap’s next, Bombay Velvet (BV). Karan says the offer “came out of the blue”. In the film, he will be seen playing the “antagonist” opposite Ranbir Kapoor.

“Yes, it’s true that I’m acting in Bombay Velvet, and of course, it’s unusual for me,” Karan says, adding, “I was blown away by the narrative. And all the cast members — besides Ranbir and Anushka (Sharma, lead actress) — have strong roles in Anurag’s film. Since I’m playing an antagonist, there are shades of grey to my character.”

Over a decade-and-ahalf ago, Karan played a cameo in the Shah Rukh Khan-Kajol-starrer Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995). More recently, he made guest appearances in films like Om Shanti Om (2007) and Luck By Chance (2009).

But what’s interesting is that now the director of feel-good, family-oriented dramas will be seen in a negative role. Karan explains, “I’ve never shied away from trying new things. Fifteen years ago, I took up direction (with Kuch Kuch Hota Hai; 1998) on an impulse, followed by my stint as a TV show host (Koffee With Karan).”

He says he always knew that, somewhere down the line, acting will happen. “I didn’t know whether I was ready for it. Now, I will start working on my role with Anurag. I will follow his directorial vision, and I won’t bring my director’s baggage on the sets,” he clarifies.

Has he discussed this with anyone else? “Besides Anurag, Ranbir too was keen that I come on board. As for my mother (Hiroo Johar), she has always been encouraging in whatever I do,” he says.

When contacted, Anurag says, “Karan is fantastic for the part. I actually wanted to bounce ideas off him. He loved the script, and I suddenly asked if he will play the role. He was surprised, but said yes. Karan said he will charge Rs. 11, and the money kept aside will go for special effects and production.”

First Look: ‘UGLY’

The official poster of Anurag Kashyap’s next film Ugly is out. The film has been selected for Directors’ Fortnight – an independent section held in parallel to the Cannes Film Festival.

Ugly features Ronit Roy, Tejaswini Kolhapure, Vinit Kumar Singh Vipin Sharma in pivotal roles. Written and directed by Anurag Kashyap, the film is dark psychological thriller on the surface and emotional drama within.

Produced by Phantom Films and DAR Motion Pictures, the film will premiere at Cannes Film Festival 2013.

Synopsis:  Bose, an Additional Commissioner of Police, is an extremely straight-forward professional. However, these lines are a bit blurred in his relationship with his wife Shalini. She is a clinically depressed person and an alcoholic. Shalini was first married to Rahul, a struggling actor and also has a daughter with him, called Kali. The story of UGLY starts on a Saturday which is the day Rahul is allowed to meet Kali as per court custody arrangements. Rahul leaves her in the car, as he goes to meet his friend…and Kali goes missing.

What follows is an endless series of blame game and one up-manship. A dark psychological thriller on the surface, Ugly is an emotional drama within.
