Aditya Roy Kapur’s new chiselled look for ‘Fitoor’

Apparently body sculpting is the new fitness mantra. Gone are the days when actors underwent rigorous training to flaunt six-pack or eight-pack abs. Aditya Roy Kapoor, who hasn’t beefed up even a bit, has taken a different route to show-off a well-toned physique in Fitoor. The actor opted for body sculpting which is the process used to tone one’s body muscles to perfection. An extremely exhausting process, the actor had to first work towards losing muscle mass and then reducing body fat. It took the actor months to get the right body type for his character in the film.

Aditya Roy Kapoor said, “I have been following this regime on and off for a year-and-a-half now. After filming some sequences, I let go a little bit and I had to lose weight all over again, which was quite frustrating. So I’ve learnt that this lifestyle has to be consistent.” (As said to the Indian Express)

When asked about the do’s and don’ts of body sculpting Aditya said, “Well, the dos are drink lots of water, get enough fibre and carbs as well, as they are important. The don’ts are don’t be too extreme with any diet, it can really end up harming your system and immunity. Also, one cheat meal is fine but keep it at one because if you do another then it’s a slippery slope.”

An adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic novel Great Expectations, Fitoor tells the story of young Kashmiri boy Noor, his muse Firdaus and a mercurial Begum, through love lost and realised over the course of two generations. Thirteen-year-old Noor, an impressionable shikara boy living by the piers of Kashmir’s Dal Lake, is lured into the world of the Begum – the wealthiest woman in town.

Young Noor falls in love with the Begum’s daughter, Firdaus – a beautiful child who has been raised to break hearts. Suffering from a broken heart herself, the Begum finds her mark in Noor. Noor begins to obsess over Firdaus, someone who belongs to a world completely different from his. Seasons change and Noor leaves his hometown to move to the city of Delhi to build his career as an artist. He strives to be accepted into the sophisticated social circles that Firdaus is a part of in a quest to win her love, while the Begum plots retribution on their young and innocent love.

Aditya Roy Kapur and Ranbir Kapoor bond over Cars

Aditya Roy KapurActor Aditya Roy Kapur, who was last seen in two back to back blockbusters, got himself a new car recently.

Aditya and Ranbir Kapoor, who starred together in Yeh Jaawani hai Deewani, bonded quite well during the making of the film. When Aditya got the car the first person he took for a drive was his good friend Ranbir Kapoor.

“Ranbir didn’t drive the car, but I took him for a ride on the first day itself. He is happy for me. Ranbir was like, ‘I know how it feels to buy your first big car.’ He told me how he felt when he got his maiden vehicle. I guess the feelings are the same,” says Aditya, with a smile.”

“He is a car junkie who is constantly updating and upgrading,” says Aditya.

As for Aditya, he has bought a new car after driving a very old vehicle for years. “Yes, it was famous for all the wrong reasons,” he says with a laugh. “I drove that car for many years. I still have my old car and love it a lot. I feel, the more the merrier.”

‘Success makes me nervous’ – Aditya Roy Kapur

Aditya Roy KapurPost the success of  Aashiqui 2, Aditya Roy Kapur talks about his roles, relationships and handling new found stardom.

With the exception of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, he would like to make a strategic choice and focus on consolidating his position as an actor. For that he needs to do lead roles.  Aashiqui 2 has worked terrifically and he has been accepted by the audiences and now it is more important than ever, for him to choose his films wisely. Still Aditya says “It’d be ridiculous to say I would be ignoring all supporting roles.”

For someone who has been receiving so many accolades for his recent release, the best compliment he has ever received comes from An elderly lady who came up to him and said that she had spent her entire life with an alcoholic so she knew what their peculiarities were, and he got the complexity of an alcoholic character perfectly right in the film.

When asked if he needs the assurance of a relationship to keep himself grounded, Aditya said ” I don’t see any direct connection, but yes everybody needs a compassionate relationship. I haven’t had one in a while, but that’s not really my priority right now. If love comes and hits me on the face, then I’m not going to let it go because you can’t control the matters of the heart.”

Talking about overnight stardom “It is quite unreal. I have never seen such kind of success in my life. Not even around me. It makes me nervous. I’m trying to soak in as much as possible because I’m well aware of its tentative nature.”

The obvious question arises that why didn’t he approach his brother Sidharth Roy Kapur, who is the CEO of Disney UTV Motion Pictures to help him out with roles?

He clarifies “It was a very conscious decision among all us brothers to not to interfere in one another’s business. All three of us are doing well. I never needed his help because it was never my ambition to become an actor. I wasn’t running around Bombay asking for work. I was happy with whatever I was getting. So when these films didn’t succeed, I wasn’t left heartbroken. I did them because I felt I shouldn’t say ‘no’ to an experience.”
