‘Maqbool’, ‘Omkara’ and ‘Haider’ to be made into books

Haider Shahid KapoorVishal Bhardwaj’s attraction for Shakespeare is undeniable and we all know how he has adapted three of his plays into films.

Maqbool was an adaptation of Macbeth, Omkara of Othello and Shakespeare’s toughest play, Hamlet, is being adapted into Haider.

Ever since filmmakers of the world are working towards period cinema, good books and bestsellers have been the favourite source for film scripts.

However with Vishal the turnaround is doubly commendable because, filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj’s three film scripts adapted from Shakespeare are going to be published as books themselves.

The prestigious Harper Collins Publishers will publish the script of the trilogy of Maqbool, Omkara and Haider.

Haider releases in UK cinemas on 19th September 2014.

From Student to Killer : Haider

Vishal Bhardwaj’s attraction for Shakespeare is undeniable. Earlier, he made Maqbool, which was an adaptation of Macbeth, and then Omkara, which was his version of Othello.

Now, he has adapted Hamlet into his upcoming film Haider, which is famous for being Shakespeare’s toughest play, but it did not discourage Vishal Bhardwaj from adapting it, in which Shahid Kapoor has many diverse looks, from his long hair to going totally bald.

When asked Vishal Bhardwaj about it, he said, “Shahid goes through an emotional journey in the film, where he starts from being a simple student in search of his father, grows his hair long and learns that his father has been probably killed and then almost becomes mad to finally taking his revenge. When he came to know that I was adapting Hamlet, he was keen to play the character of Hamlet, who is Haider in our film and within a second I asked him, ‘Will you go bald or not?’ So that was a prerequisite for the role.”

Further asking filmmaker, what attracts him most about Shakespeare, he said, “His stories have timeless human drama. His stories may be 400 years old, but yet, the human conflict is the same. Human beings may have progressed, but the inner self is still 400 years old.”

Haider, starring Tabu, Shahid Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor, and Kay Kay Menon, directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, produced under the banner of UTV Motion Pictures, is slated to release in UK cinemas on 2nd October 2014.

Shahid Kapoor’s tranformation for ‘Haider’

Haider Shahid KapoorShahid Kapoor seems to have undergone change especially when it comes to his on-screen persona between his last outing R…Rajkumar and his upcoming Haider.

Vishal Bhardwaj’s Haider, adaptation of Hamlet, has seen Shahid’s transform himself completely to get into the skin of his character for which he is getting appreciation from the industry.

Director Vikas Bahl says, “It’s wonderful to see how he gets into the skin of the character and constantly surprises us. Wanting to see him play Haider now.”

Futher director-producer Karan Johar adds, “The film looks engaging and power-packed with drama and intrigue. It also appears to be Shahid’s best celluloid work.” From the first look of the film, it generated incredible grip online and on social networking sites

The actor is now being asked on how he got into the skin of his character, so much so that while he was in a meeting at a suburban five- star, a hotel guest disturbed the meeting to tell him how much he loved the trailer. Even his neighbours have been telling him about the trailer and how they are looking forward to the film. This has been encouraging Shahid, but the most important ones come from his father Pankaj Kapur, who said, “Haider is real, touching and explosive. I have not seen Shakespeare’s Hamlet interpreted the way Vishal has in Haider. I am proud of Shahid’s performance in it.”

Haider starring Shahid Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor, Tabu and Kay Kay Menon, directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, produced under the banner of UTV motion picture is slated to release in UK cinemas on  2nd October 2014.

Shahid Kapoor’s new look for Disney UTV Studio and Vishal Bharadwaj’s Haider has been released. Directed by Vishal Bharadwaj, Haider also stars Aashiqui 2 girl Shraddha Kapoor.

“Disney UTV Studios’ previous association with Vishal Bharadwaj and Shahid Kapoor delivered the cult box office hit Kaminay. The audiences have long awaited the next installment from this team, and in Haider we believe the audiences will find the wait was well worth it.
