Bollywood witnesses a trend with successful foreign adaptations

Recently, the film industry has witnessed a whirlwind of change in the pattern of films, as content triumphs over everything in the past year. Interestingly, the successes have witnessed an underlying trend of international hits being remade into Bollywood as AndhaDhun and Badla set the box office on fire and the upcoming Bharat promises a victory at the box office.

Sriram Raghavan’s AndhaDhun starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Tabu and Radhika Apte has emerged as one of the best thrillers of Bollywood. The path-breaking content film exploded a bomb at the box office, leaving everyone pleasantly surprised with the hailing of content. Emerging as an underdog, AndhaDhun banked upon rave reviews and word of mouth to set the cash registers ringing.

AndhaDhun is partly inspired by a French short film ‘The Piano Turner’, director Sriram Raghavan acquired the rights of the film and moulded the same into the astonishing Hindi thriller that has created a lasting impact on the audience.

While the audience was still gushing over the last year’s masterpiece AndhaDhun, Badla hit the audience with its gripping story. Red Chillies Entertainment and Azure Entertainment’s Badla directed by Sujoy Ghosh left the audience at the edge of their seats with the intriguing twists and turned that bound the enthralling narrative of the film.

Starring Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu, Badla required the rights of the Spanish Thriller ‘The Invisible Guest‘ to adapt the story for the Indian audience. 

While AndhaDhun and Badla have marked their success with the phenomenal reviews and huge box office numbers, the audience is now looking forward to Bharat, which is based on the Korean film ‘An Ode To My Father’.

The Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif starrer, Bharat is directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, the collaborations of the director with the actors have fruited successes in the past and the trailer of the next has captivated the audience already. Promising to create a splash at the box office, Bharat has interested the audience with intriguing content.

Narrating stories that strike a chord with the audience, Bollywood has taken leaves from the international markets offering pieces of excellence, continuing the trend, the film industry is eyeing at strong content in the upcoming films like Bharat as well.

Salman Khan finds his Jawani Janeman in Disha Patani

Disha Patani, who is currently gearing up for her big-budget film, ‘Bharat’ alongside Salman Khan has become the star’s new lady where Salman refers to her as ‘Jawani Janeman’.
The makers released the trailer of the film, from which it seems like Salman Khan will be seen romancing this generation’s hottest actress, Disha Patani. In the three minute trailer, Salman Khan shares the tale of his life in which it is evident that he is romancing Disha during the early years of his life.

The fitness icon has been treating her fans with her bodacious dance moves and intense acrobatic stunts with a range of sneak peeks into her routine. Disha has been soaring the temperature on social media by posting her pictures and sending the fans into a frenzy.
After the back to back success of M.S. Dhoni -An Untold Story and Baaghi 2, which raked more than 100 crores at the box office, Disha Patani will be seen next in Bharat along with Salman Khan, followed by Mohit Suri’s Malang.

First Look: Salman Khan in Bharat

Beginning the journey of a man and a nation, Salman Khan shared the first poster of Bharat featuring himself in an old look with a grey moustache, beard and hair.

The first poster of Bharat has come in as a surprise for Salman Khan fans all over as the actor sports a never seen before look of an old, rugged, wise and experienced man with the grey moustache, beard and hair. 

Bharat will trace the journey of a man spanning six decades, hence, Salman Khan will be seen sporting six varied looks through the years of his life. Earlier, the makers treated the audience with the teaser that gives glimpses into the facades of the film.

Including stellar performers like Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Disha Patani, Tabu, and Sunil Grover, the Ali Abbas Zafar directorial boasts of an ensemble cast promising power-packed performances. 

Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, ‘Bharat’ is produced by Atul Agnihotri’s Reel Life Production Pvt. Ltd and Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series releasing Eid 2019.

A UK distributor has not been announced as of now.


Salman Khan’s ‘Bharat’ to be filmed in London

Ali Abbas Zafar, who has directed Salman Khan in Sultan and Tiger Zinda Hai, will reunite with Khan in Atul Agnithotri’s Bharat.

The film will be shot across locations in London, where Khan has previously filmed Jaanam Samjha Karo, Jab Pyaar Kisi Se Hota Hai, Salaam-E-Ishq, Veer and London Dreams among other films. 

Interestingly, Salman & Jacqueline starrer Kick, helmed by Sajid Nadiadwala, was also to be filmed in the British capital. However, Khan was denied a working visa due to his court proceedings in India. The schedule was subsequently moved to Poland.

“The film spans between his age of 8 years to 65 years. So he will be seen in different age groups in the film. And we are right now doing full research with our Indian and international teams to figure out what is the right way to go about it, whether it is prosthetics or whether it is VFX, how to go about all those things. So we are working on that,” Ali told The Indian Express in an interview.

Salman Khan last year performed in the UK for The Dabangg Tour in Birmingham and London along with Sonakshi Sinha, Prabhu Deva, Daisy Shah, Jacqueline Fernandez and others.
