Legendary actress Sridevi passed away on Saturday in Dubai, after attending the wedding of her nephew Mohit Marwah to Antara Motiwala.

It was earlier reported that Sridevi stayed back in the UAE with her daughter Khushi Kapoor and husband Boney Kapoor. However, it has emerged that only Sridevi stayed back and checked into the Jumeirah Emirates Tower Hotel, while the rest of her family flew back to Mumbai.
Reportedly, her husband flew back to Dubai on Saturday morning to surprise her. Earlier reports stated her brother-in-law Sanjay Kapoor confirmed that Sridevi passed away of cardiac arrest at the Dubai hotel.
However, a Dubai post-mortem report confirmed that the actress died of accidental drowning. It further says that she drowned in her hotel apartment’s bathtub after becoming unconscious. Apparently, she was under the influence of alcohol at the time.
The entire post-mortem report has not yet been released to the public yet, but will most likely explain the link between the earlier statements of cardiac arrest and now the official reason of death being “accidental drowning”.
As the case has been transferred to the Dubai Public Prosecution, Sridevi’s mortal remains have not been released to her family yet, pending further investigations. A private jet owned by Anil Ambani, chairman of Reliance Group, is currently stationed at Dubai International Airport to bring her mortal remains back to Mumbai, India.
UAE Police Officials are currently checking late Sridevi’s phone records and are examining Jumeirah Hotel’s CCTV footage.
Boney Kapoor’s publicist released the following statement to the media: “Boney Kapoor, Jhanvi, Khushi and the entire Kapoor, Ayyappan and Marwah family is deeply bereaved and shocked with the untimely loss of Sridevi Kapoor. They thank the entire media for their prayers, support and sensitivity during their time of grief.”
