Eros International topped the UK box office for Indian films for the calendar year 2013 with four out of the top ten films released by the company. Eros amassed a massive £5.47m at the UK box office last year capturing a mammoth 33% of the market share.
Out of the 130 Indian films (Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and Punjabi) that hit the theatres last year, 42 films belonged to Eros and its subsidiary Ayngaran, which distributes Tamil films overseas.
Eros was also numero uno at the Bollywood Box Office in UK with a market share of 26% (£4.20mn). Some of Eros’ biggest hits of the past year include Krrish 3, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Ram-Leela and Raanjhanaa.
Looking to continue this trend in the current year, Eros seeks to further enhance its market share with highly awaited films such as the recently released Jai Ho and the upcoming Shaadi Ke Side Effects, Action Jackson due for release in the first half of the year.
