Yash Chopra’s final film Jab Tak Hai Jaan has fared extremely well at the UK box office so far.
Starring Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma, Jab Tak Hai Jaan opened worldwide earlier this week on Tuesday.
The film, which was extensively shot at locations across London, earned £ 160,834 on its opening day in the UK, higher than Shah Rukh Khan’s last release Don 2 which collected £ 117, 138 on its opening day (Wednesday) here.
Even with over 130 screens across the UK, most shows were sold out on the first day. Yash Raj Films then decided to increase capacities in almost all key cinemas in the UK from Wednesday with some cinemas, like Cineworld Feltham, now scheduled to screen up to 14 shows of the film a day.
Jab Tak Hai Jaan collected £ 177,155 on Wednesday and £ 82,068 on Thursday from 88 locations in the UK with the total of the first three days amounting to £ 420,057.
Interestingly, Jab Tak Hai Jaan also released nationwide in Germany yesterday, 15th November, and is currently on No. 7 on the German cinema charts.
Rapid Eye Movies, the distributors of Jab Tak Hai Jaan – Solang Ich Lebe, said in a statement: “With over 5,000 visitors yesterday’s opening day of Jab Tak Hai Jaan – Solang Ich Lebe, was a great success and the film has peaked on the seventh place at the box office.”
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh posted on Twitter that the film has collected $ 70,000 on its opening day in Germany.
Jab Tak Hai Jaan is out now on general release in the UK and worldwide.
