
Varun Dhawan, whose launch vehicle Student of the Year has got favourable response at the box office, says his father, filmmaker David Dhawan, is proud of him.
“He is reacting not like a director but as a father. He is just very proud that I am doing something in life and my first film has released, people have liked my performance,” the 24-year-old debutant said in an interview.
Meanwhile, Varun is elated with megastar Amitabh Bachchan praising him on social-networking site Twitter.
“Amitji (Amitabh Bachchan) has tweeted for me saying that he liked my work. So that is a really big thing for me that Amitji has said something for me,” Varun said.
Directed by Karan Johar, Student of The Year also marked the debut of former model Siddharth Malhotra and filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt’s daughter Alia Bhatt.
Released by Eros International in UK cinemas, the film earned £131,149 in its opening weekend.
