Dharma Productions has released the first look of the third leading actor of Karan Johar’s Student of the Year, Varun Dhawan.
Varun Dhawan, son of filmmaker David Dhawan and brother of Desi Boyz director Rohit Dhawan, completed his education in the UK and joined Dharma Productions as an assistant director for My Name is Khan.
Speaking about the young actor, director Karan Johar said: “Varun’s mother called me and said that he has just finished his education in the United Kingdom and post that wanted to have a bout at film making, before he ventures into the acting zone. He did not want to work with any member of his family because he wanted the experience outside.”
Karan Johar recalled that he took a similar route as he opted to start his career as an AD with Yash Raj Films, not with his father’s banner Dharma Production.
“Varun’s energy level and his enthusiasm is truly going to make him, I believe an actor for the future,” added the 40-year-old director.
