Rani Mukerji plays the character of Naina Mathur, a teacher dealing with Tourette Syndrome in the forthcoming YRF production, Hichki. In the film, tackling her involuntary nervous disorder to first become a teacher and then tackle societal hichkis by nurturing a motley crew of less privileged and rebellious and irreverent kids, Rani’s journey is all about overcoming weaknesses and stigmas and converting them into  victories. Phir Kya Hai Gham, the latest song from Hichki, captures this spirit perfectly.

This catchy song in the beautiful voice of Shilpa Rao inspires us to brace for life and all that it will dish out bravely. Rani and her class of fourteen bring the beat alive with Madamji, Go Easy

 The catchy, street style cool song Madamji, Go Easy from Rani Mukerji starrer Hichki is now out on YouTube. Featuring her onscreen students, the motley crew of section 9F, this song from Hichki captures the irreverent, rebellious and energetic spirit of these young adults grappling with life in the basti, their poor neighborhood. 

Sung by Benny Dayal and David Klyton, and with lyrics by Raj Shekhar and David Kylton, the spunky Madamji, Go Easy is a rap meets desi hip hop track, reflecting a popular organic music form that has emerged from India’s slums and poorer urban neighborhoods. With catchy lyrics like “Sab wi-fi, hum 3G” and colloquial Mumbai terms like“Matha Pacchi”, this Hichki song has the thump and beat of popular street poetry. With Tamil rap interspersed and Mumbaiya Hindi, the words of this song get your head bobbing and your feet tapping.

Rani Mukerji launches ‘Oye Hichki’ at her old school

Rani Mukerji went back to school, her alma mater Maneckji Cooper today to launch the promotional video from her forthcoming release, Oye Hichki. A catchy song, which is also the first song that the makers have released, sees Rani call out the prevalent social Hichkis like preference for fair skin, looking down at people with disabilities, girls not having the right to choose their life partners, etc. This video highlights the different types of discrimination prevalent in our society today that exists in each and everyone of us. This song urges everyone to identify them and overcome them, one discrimination at a time. Rani launched the song at her school Maneckji Cooper today afternoon.
