Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer and the much awaited second instalment of Indian epic adventure film Ponniyin Selvan 2 has slowed down in its second weekend at the UK Box Office.
The film, directed by Mani Ratnam, released in three languages across UK cinemas in a historic 210 locations for an original Tamil film. It opened on 28th April 2023 with 3 previews on 27th April collecting £6,018.
Over its first weekend it took an impressive £618,244 with a site average of £2,944. The intakes, as usual with South Indian films, remarkably reduced in its second weekend with just £88,510 from 108 locations, with a site average of £820. The total gross of the film so far stands at £897,013
Salman Khan starrer Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan released by Zee Studios also slowed down after its opening weekend. In its second weekend over 28th-30th April, the film played across 95 locations, collecting £72,546, with a site average of £764. In its third weekend during the weekend 7th-9th May, the film dropped down to just 35 locations, collecting just £16,148 with a site average of £461. The total gross of the film stands at £528,830.
Universal Pictures UK’s Polite Society flopped at the UK Box Office despite a big release and extensive marketing spends. The film opened on 28th April, like Ponniyin Selvan 2, but only took in £220.278 from 445 locations, with a poor site average of £495. Despite debuting at No.9 on the official UK Box Office chart, it disappeared from from Top 15 in its second weekend. Directed by Nida Manzoor, the film took £45,317 during its second weekend over 7th-9th May, a 76.8% drop from its first weekend. The film is up to £436,846 in total so far.
