Yash Raj Films‘ all-time blockbuster Pathaan starring Shah Rukh Khan has become the first Indian film to cross £4M at the UK Box Office. The film previously broke several records such as highest-opening day, highest one-day collection, highest-grossing first weekend, and first film to cross £3M at the UK Box Office for an Indian title.
Pathaan crossed £4M on Thursday 16th February when the total collections stood at £4,012,976. In its fourth weekend at the film took £114,288 from 91 locations, with a site average of £1,255.91. The total gross of the film stands at a historic £4,166,526. The film remained within the Top 15 films at the UK Box Office from collections over 17th-19th February.
The locations showing the Pathaan in UK and Ireland cinemas significantly dropped due to new Indian releases and Disney’s ANT-MAN AND THE WASP: QUANTUMANIA which collected £8,834,435 in its opening weekend.
Tamil film Vaathi opened to good numbers in two versions on 17th February. The Dhanush starrer was released in its original version Tamil as well as in Telugu under the title Sir.
Vaathi took an impressive £115,999 from 73 locations, bringing the site average to £ 1,589.03, higher than Pathaan for the weekend. The Telugu version Sir played across 23 locations bringing in £18,869.56 with a site average of £ 820.42. Both versions were released by Dreamz Entertainment Limited.
Cinestaan AA Distributors new Bollywood film Shehzada starring Kartik Aryan fared below average considering the pre-release hype of the film. The film played across 91 locations, the highest for an Indian title during the weekend, taking in only £69,195.20 with a site average of £875.89.
This week Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures UK will release Dharma Productions’ SELFIEE in UK and Ireland cinemas from Friday.
