Madras Talkies & Lyca Productions’ Ponniyin Selvan: I, directed by Mani Ratnam, has broken opening weekend records for an Indian title at the UK Box Office in 2022 upon its release on 30th September.
Released by DG Tech, the film is a Tamil-language epic period action drama film starring Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, and Jayaram.
Ponniyin Selvan: I released in 119 locations in the UK with an additional 21 locations in Ireland via 2G Entertainments, in a mix of three languages; Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi.
In the UK the film raked in £745,386.45 from 119 locations, with a high site average of £6,263.75. In Ireland, the 21 locations brought in £54,730.37, with a site average of £2,606.21.
