Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures UK’ latest Bollywood offering Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt is smashing post-pandemic records at the UK Box Office for an Indian title.
The film is nearing the coveted £1 Million mark at the UK Box Office. Since the pandemic started in 2020, only one Indian title has been able to earn the amount; K.G.F: Chapter 2. The film was released by three distributors across the United Kingdom and Ireland in 5 Indian languages.
Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva is the highest grossing Hindi film at the UK Box Office since 2020 and was short of just approx. £4000 in its third weekend to cross the £1 Million mark. From 23rd to 25th September, the film grossed a decent £46,864 from 85 locations, with a site average of £551. The cumulative gross of the film so far stands at £995,237. The film dropped to No.14 on the UK Box Office charts as per comscore.
The new Hindi film release on 23rd September, Chup – The Revenge of the Artist, distributed by Dreamz Entertainment Ltd., opened to a weekend gross of £13,487 from 35 locations, with a site average of just £385.
Other Indian titles which opened on 23rd September include: Krishna Vrinda Vihari – £7,624 from 15 locs, Prem Geet 3 – £7,482 from 5 locs, Dhokha: Round D Corner – £7,418 from 25 locs, and Criminal – £ 6,929 from 13 locs.
