UK Box Office: ‘Ek Villain Returns’ crosses £300k, ‘Sita Ramam’ opens below average, ‘RRR’ gets a re-release

Ek Villain Returns has crossed the £300k mark at the UK Box Office. The film had a strong second weekend (05.08-07.08) , even though the locations have dropped from 44 to 26,  the John Abraham-Arjun Kapoor starrer raked in an impressive £71,701.29, with a site average of £ 2,757.74.

Released by DG Tech LTD for T-Series, the film released in UK cinemas on 29th July 2022 with a 15 BBFC classification.

Telugu-language period romance film Sita Ramam starring Dulquer Salmaan, Mrunal Thakur, Rashmika Mandanna had a small release and took a below than average opening at the UK Box Office collecting £35,403.82 from 22 locations, with a site average of £1,609.26. Released by DG Tech Ltd in the UK, the film took an additional  £917.65 from 2 locations in Ireland, where Akshaye Traders distributed it, on a site average of £458.82.

Dharma Productions’ Jugjugg Jeeyo, released by Moviegoers Entertainment, has earned £694.88 from 11 locations in its 7th weekend, with a site average of £63.17. The cumulative UK gross stands at £402,229.97. 

The British Film Institute released Satyajit Ray’s 1963 drama Mahanagar (The Big City) in multiple locations as part of the Satyajit Ray: The Language of Film season. In its third weekend, the film earned £640.10 from 2 locations,  with a site average of £320.05. The total gross of the film stands at £17,940.85.

Indian epic RRR, available on Netflix UK, had a re-release in 3 locations on the weekend 05.08-07.08. The film collected £377.00, with a site average of £125.67 bringing the total UK gross to £973,184.00.

This week Paramount Pictures’ Laal Singh Chaddha and Zee Studios’ Raksha Bandhan will open on 11th August, securing an extended opening for both Indian titles.
