UK Box Office: ‘Shamshera’ opens average

Ranbir Kapoor and Vaani KapoorYash Raj FilmsShamshera had an average opening at the UK Box Office. The film opened in much lesser locations than some of the other big Hindi films this year.

The film took £47,903 in its opening weekend from 61 locations, with a site average of £785. Starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, and Vaani Kapoor, Shamshera is directed by Karan Malhotra and received a 15 classification from the British Board of Film Classification.

Dharma Productions Jugjugg Jeeyo collected £10,741 from 20 locations in its fifth weekend (22.07-24.07). The cumulative UK gross of the film stands at £390,732. The Viacom18 Studios film was released in UK cinemas by Moviegoers Entertainment.

Other Indian titles which opened during the weekend include Malayankunju – £26,322 from 31 locations;  Thank You – £ 20,570  from 32 locations; Tootu Madike – £671 from 9 locations.

The British Film Institute released Satyajit Ray’s 1963 drama Mahanagar (The Big City) in multiple locations as part of the Satyajit Ray: The Language of Film season. The film earned £6,038 from 8 locations,  with a site average of £755.

This week T-Series’s Ek Villain Returns will release in UK cinemas, starring John Abraham, Arjun Kapoor, Disha Patani, and Tara Sutaria.
