The two new Bollywood Hindi film releases last week, Rocketry by Yash Raj Films and Rashtra Kavach OM by Zee Studios, failed to make a mark at the UK Box Office while Dharma Productions’ Jugjugg Jeeyo is still going strong.
Rocketry – The Nambia Effect is directed by and stars R. Madhavan. The film had its world premiere during the Cannes Film Festival at Marche Du Film earlier in May. Released by Yash Raj Films on 1st July in Hindi and Tamil, the film took £23,833 from 49 locations in its opening weekend, with a site average of £486. The film landed at number 12 on the Top 15 UK Box Office Charts for the weekend 01.07-03.07.
Rashtra Kavach OM released by Zee Studios starring Aditya Roy Kapur also opened poor with just £7,859 from 30 locations in its opening weekend, with a site average of just £262.
Dharma Productions’ Jugjugg Jeeyo released in the UK by Moviegoers Entertainment has stayed strong, dropping from number 6 to 8 on the UK Box Office Charts in its second weekend. The film had a -61% change from its opening weekend, collecting £64,338 from 58 locations, with a site average of £1,109. The total gross of the film including collections from its second weekend stand at £307,141.
Other Indian films opened at the UK Box Office last weekend include Khao Piyo Aish Karo – £15,129 from 17 locations, Yaanai – £5,342 from 9 locations, Pakka Commercial – £4,241 from 8 locations, Aparajito – £2,441 from 9 locations, Lover – £1,612 from 12 locations.
