It feels like the industry has been slumming a bit. Audiences are waiting for a spectacle ad to just be entertained. Of course, there have been a few films that have been commendable, however it feels like we just need a little… fun and it looks like we finally got it. The film takes us back to what Bollywood represented in UK cinemas a decade ago.
Jugjugg Jeeyo is all about a family. Kukoo and Naina (Varun Dhawan and Kiara Advani) are two NRIs, unhappily married. The two decide to get divorced and try to tell Kukoo’s parents (Neetu Kapoor and Anil Kapoor) at Kukoo’s younger sister’s wedding. What ensues is a rollercoaster of drama, comedy and entertainment.
Jugjugg Jeeyo is exactly what we expect from a film presented by Karan Johar. Loud atmosphere, colourful outfits and lavish locations. It does feel at times that this drowns out the actual message of the film, but it works. The star cast are brilliant; as they say, boys will be boys and this cannot be a more accurate saying when it comes to Varun Dhawan and Anil Kapoor. Two dynamite actors who are made to only entertain. The ladies on the other hand are amazing; Kiara Advani and Neetu Kapoor are a delight to watch and gives us a reminder that times have changed for women and that they are more than capable to do anything they set their minds to.
All in all, Jugjugg Jeeyo is a great film to watch with the family and also perhaps gives you a new appreciation for them.
