SS Rajamouli’s RRR starring N.T. Rama Rao Jr., Ram Charan, Alia Bhatt, and Ajay Devgn is to release in 4 languages in UK cinemas this week, with limited previews starting on the evening of 24th March 2022.
The much-awaited multilingual project has been postponed a number of times due to restrictions imposed on cinemas in India due to the pandemic. The film depicts a fictional story about two Indian revolutionaries, Alluri Sitarama Raju (Charan) and Komaram Bheem (Rama Rao), who fought against the British Raj and Nizam of Hyderabad respectively.
The British Board of Film Classification has given the film a 15 rating for each version; Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam. This limits the audience as no-one younger than 15 may see RRR in a UK cinema.
The film was to be released in UK cinemas by Yash Raj Films but Dreamz Entertainment Limited has taken over, for unknown reasons, and is currently distributing it in all four languages.
RRR will also be screened at select IMAX cinemas, including at the BFI IMAX.
