Veteran Bollywood playback singer Lata Mangeshkar passed away today, 6th February 2022, at a private hospital in Mumbai, India after a 28-day-long prolonged battle with Covid-19, pneumonia and related issues.
Known as ‘the Nightingale of India’, Mangeshkar was the first Indian artist to perform at the famous Royal Albert Hall at London with the Wren Orchestra in 1974.
The Indian national flag flew at half-mast at the President’s House in New Delhi following the singer’s demise.
The singer has over the years won the Indian Padma Bhushan, the Padma Vibhushan and the Dada Saheb Phalke Award, and multiple National Film Awards.
