Indian cinema’s most accomplished actress, Vidya Balan, marks Internationalwomen’s Day with the release of her fifth female-centric film, Kahaani. With a sweeping victory at the recent award season, including the National Award win, for her role in The Dirty Picture, Vidya is set to be lauded by critics and audiences once more for her essaying of a heavily pregnant woman in search of her missing husband in a foreign land, directed by Sujoy Ghosh.
Vidya Balan has become synonymous with the surge of female-led film vehicles to emerge from Indian cinema over recent times, and what more an appropriate annual occasion than International Women’s Day to launch her next powerhouse performance.
