Family members of Bollywood actor Dev Anand met the press today in London after his sad demise on Saturday, the 3rd December 2011.
The press conference was organised by the Indian Journalists Association and was held at The Washington Hotel, where Anand passed away, aged 88.
The funeral of the legendary Bollywood star will be held on Saturday, 10th December in south-west London. His nephew, Tony Sarin told the press: “As far as the funeral arrangement is concerned, the cremation will take place at Putney Vale Crematorium here at 11.40 am (local time) on Saturday. It will be followed by a memorial service at the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan at 2pm.”
Dev Anand’s son, Suneil Anand told the press that his father loved London and that the funeral has been delayed due to certain formalities. He also added that he will look into making a few films his father wanted to make.
Joginder Sanger, owner of Washington Hotel where the actor died, said, “It is a very sad occasion. Popularly known as Dev ji, he expired suddenly. Perhaps this is what was written by the Lord. He had a good innings and he died the death of a saint.”
