Close on the heels of the stupendous success of Sridevi’s comeback film English Vinglish in Japan where the film garnered box office collections of a whopping $ 1.4 million plus, Eros International is all set to release the blockbuster in Romania this month on the 24th of October across 15 screens approx.
The film has performed exceptionally well in other new markets like South Korea, Hong Kong, Germany and Taiwan too and the team is confident of its continued appreciation in new territories.
English Vinglish, directed by Gauri Shinde released in Oct 2012 and has since fascinated audiences worldwide with its universal subject of people living abroad in an English world trying hard to learn English to be accepted by their society.
Cocktail and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara are some of the other releases by Eros which have enjoyed success in Romania.
Although her performance in her big comeback film English Vinglish got her much critical appreciation, Sridevi has to decide if she will agree to do a cameo.
A few days ago, Fox Star Studios sent feelers to the talented actress to make a special appearance in Amole Gupte’s upcoming film Hawaa Hawaai. The out-and-out masala movie stars Amole’s son Partho Gupte and Saqib Saleem and is being shot in various locations in the city.
The famous Mr India song, Kehte Hain Mujhko Hawa Hawai, gave Sridevi the tag of Miss Hawa Hawai.
A source close to the film told Mirror: “The makers strongly feel that she should be a part of the film since its very name is derived from one of Sridevi’s most famous songs. Her shoot is being planned for January. She will be seen in a few scenes. However, she is yet to give her nod to the cameo.”
Veteran actress Sridevi is making a comeback after 15 long years with English Vinglish. Directed by débutante director Gauri Shinde, the makers of the film have released a brand new song, It’s all about English Vinglish.
English Vinglish is a story of Shashi, a woman who struggles to learn the English language and the insecurities she faces because of it. The film is shot mostly in New York and captures her transformational journey.
The newly released song is an upbeat and vibrant track. The video gives a glimpse of Shashi’s everyday life and the little things that make her happy.
English Vinglish will be released in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu versions simultaneously after its world premiere at Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in its prestigious gala section.
The film is slated to release in the UK on 5th of October, 2012.

Eros is very proud to associate with this project and present it to audiences worldwide”.
R. Balki added, ‘Sridevi is such a natural and was the perfect choice for this role. Not knowing English in our country is a big deal. Three things differentiate people here — fame, money and the knowledge of English. The film deals with her insecurities and how she shows the world that speaking the language isn’t a big deal. I am pleased to tie-up with Eros International who will present this film on a global platform.”
