A story that has travelled across generations and cultures is preparing for a new cinematic chapter, as the makers of Ramayana: Rise of a Legend unveil a new international trailer ahead of the film’s worldwide release.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the ambitious adaptation draws on the ancient Indian epic, bringing its legendary characters, enduring themes and monumental conflict to the big screen for contemporary audiences.
The new trailer, released on 15 October, offers an expanded look at the world of Ramayana, introducing international audiences to the central conflict between Rama, played by Ranbir Kapoor, and Ravana, portrayed by Yash. Sai Pallavi stars as Sita, with Ravie Dubey as Lakshman and Sunny Deol as Hanuman.
The film’s international campaign seeks to introduce the epic to audiences around the world while drawing on a story deeply rooted in Indian cultural heritage. Its themes of duty, courage, sacrifice and the struggle between good and evil have resonated across generations, making it one of the most enduring narratives in Indian storytelling.
The latest trailer places these themes at the heart of its presentation. Kapoor’s Rama emerges as a figure determined to confront the growing threat posed by Ravana, while Yash’s portrayal of the formidable king of Lanka establishes the scale of the conflict that will shape the story.
Beyond its leading performances, the production brings together an international creative team. The film’s music features a collaboration between Oscar-winning composers Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman.
Produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios in association with DNEG and Monster Mind Creations, Ramayana: is conceived as a two-part cinematic adaptation.
The project represents an ambitious attempt to bring a culturally significant story to a global theatrical audience, combining familiar mythology with contemporary filmmaking and large-scale visual storytelling.
Ramayana: Rise of a Legend is scheduled to release in cinemas on 5 November 2026.
