The highly-anticipated action drama Animal, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Rashmika Mandanna and Tripti Dimri, and directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga opened with a bang at the UK Box Office.
Despite receiving a 18 rating from the BBFC, meaning no one younger than 18 may see the film in a cinema, the film had one of the highest opening weekends for an Indian film at the UK Box Office in 2023.
Distributor AA Films released the film in three versions in UK and Irish cinemas; Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
The film opened in 172 locations on 1st December 2023 with no previews, and raked in a very impressive £719,022 over the weekend 1st-3rd December, with a high site average of £4,180.
Vicky Kaushal starrer Sam Bahadur also opened on 1st December and collected just £39,079 from 43 locations, with a site average of £909.
Tiger 3 dipped even further in its fourth weekend with a change of -53 locations. It collected just £31,937 (a -72% change from its previous weekend) from 50 locations, with a site average of £639. The total gross of the film stands at £1,489,760.
Other Indian openers during the weekend 1st-3rd December include Antony – £14,179 from 57 locs, Annapoorani – £9,399 from 32 locs, Parking – £1,585 from 6 locs, Dance Party – £271 from 7 locs.
