UK Box Office: ‘Kushi’ opens well, ‘Rocky aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ still strong

Indian films have been thriving at the UK Box Office with Telugu film Kushi starring Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha Ruth Prabhu opening well and Karan Johar’s Rocky aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani still going strong in its sixth weekend.

Kushi made its debut on 1st September and was the top Indian film for the weekend (1st-3rd September). The film collected £95,897 from 44 locations, with a site average of £2,179.

Alia Bhatt & Ranveer Singh starrer Rocky aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani continues to climb after crossing the coveted £2M mark. In its sixth weekend, the film raked in an impressive £90,847 from 73 locations with an impressive site average of £1,244. The total gross stands at £2,209,297. The family entertainer is the second highest grosser for an Indian film at the UK Box Office in 2023 so far, as well as the second Indian film to cross the £2M mark since 2018 after Pathaan.

Punjabi film Mastaney is also performing well in its second weekend. The film collected  £53,979 from just 32 locations, with a site average of £1,687. The total gross of the film stands at £246,555.

The sequel to Gadar released by Zee Studios starring Sunny Deol has been breaking Box Office records in India but in the UK the film has underperformed in comparison. Gadar 2 – The Katha had rather disappointing numbers in its fourth weekend with just £19,396 collected from 36 locations, with a site average of £539. The total gross of the film stands at  £676,621.

Dream Girl 2 has been dropped to just 21 locations in its second weekend where it collected  £15,776 with a site average of £751. The total gross of the film is at £113,365.

Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2 is also in its fourth weekend like Gadar 2 but has been underperforming in comparison. The film only played in 9 locations earning £6,868 with a site average of £ 763. The total gross is now at £186,722.

Rajnikanth’s Jailer is also in its fourth weekend and has remarkly reduced new collections despite a bumper opening. The film collected just £6,754 from 28 locations, with a site average of just £241. The total gross stands at £1,335,492, the highest for a Tamil film at the UK Box Office this year so far.
