Karan Johar’s Rocky aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani has crossed the coveted £2M mark at the UK Box Office in its fifth weekend. Only 12 other Indian titles have crossed the mark at the UK Box Office with 3 of those films also directed by Johar; Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (£2,213,877), Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (£2,061,251), and My Name Is Khan (£2,626,809).
Other films that collected over £2M at the UK Box Office include: Pathaan, Dhoom 3, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Dangal, PK, Dilwale, Padmaavat, Chennai Express, Veer-Zaara.
Rocky aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani starring Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh was showing in an impressive 85 locations over the weekend (25th-27th August) collecting £160,281 with a site average of £ 1,886, remaining the top Indian film across the UK and Ireland. The total collections stand at £ 2,001,462.
Dulquer Salman starrer King Of Kotha opened in 131 locations on 25th August collecting £127,640, with a site average of £974. The film is released by Zee Studios. In Ireland, the film collected £16,484 from 30 locations, with a site average of £549.
Punjabi language film Mastaney also opened on 25th August, and despite a limited release in just 33 locations, it collected £108,971 with a high site average of £3,302.
Ananya Pandey and Ayushman Khuranna starrer Dream Girl 2 also made its debut on Friday and collected £61,670 from 56 locations with a site average of £1,101. The film also showed in 1 location in Ireland, collecting £2,868 in its opening weekend.
Zee Studios’ Gadar 2 – The Katha Continues starring Sunny Deol raked in £59,418 over its third weekend from 54 locations with a site average of £1,100. The total gross stands at £620,783.
Rajnikanth starrer Jailer has slowed down in its third weekend, despite playing accross 84 locations the film only collected £40,556, with a site average of £ 483. The total gross stands at £1,310,519, the highest for a Tamil film this year.
Viacom’s OMG 2 starring Akshay Kumar was reduced to just 13 locations in its third weekend, collecting £21,238, with a site average of £1,634 bringing the total gross of £168,844.
