Karan Johar’s Rocky aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani remains the top Indian film at the UK Box Office in its fourth weekend. The Alia Bhatt-Ranveer Singh starrer is performing beyond predictions.
In its fourth weekend (18th-20th August), the film screened in 74 locations collecting a very healthy £186,726 with a high site average of £2,523. The total gross of the film stands at £1,713,466. The film is released in UK cinemas by Moviegoers Entertainment and has become the second highest grossing Indian film of 2023 so far, behind Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan.
Rajnikanth starrer Jailer is also setting records for being the highest grossing Tamil film of 2023 so far. In its second weekend (18th-20th August),, the film played across 132 locations, earning £184,857, with a site average of £ 1,400. The total gross stands at £1,194,480. It’s the third Indian film of the year to cross the £1M mark, behind Pathaan and Rocky aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.
Zee Studios’s sequel of Gadar has picked up in its second weekend (18th-20th August), at the UK Box Office with the humungous success of the film in India translating to ticket sales here too. Gadar 2 played in 72 locations over the weekend collecting a decent £116,546, with a site average of £1,597, bringing the total to just under half a million at £496,294.
Akshay Kumar starrer OMG2 has had a slow start at the UK Box Office but collected a good site average due limited screens. The film dropped to just 23 locations collecting £43,983 with a high site average of £ 1,912. The total remains at a poor £122,457.
Abhishek Bachchan starrer Ghoomer flopped with a disastrous opening. The film had a small release with just 33 locations playing the film, where it collected just £10,247 with a site average of £311.
Other new Indian films released on 18th August include: Mr. Pregnant – £2,548 from 10 locations; Junior – £690 from 6 locations.
