The UK Box Office saw several high-profile Indian films released in UK cinemas on 11th August – Rajnikanth’s Tamil language film Jailer, the sequel to Sunny Deol’s Gadar and Akshay Kumar starrer Oh My God 2.
Jailer had a exceptionally high opening weekend (11th-13th August), collecting a total of £727,742 playing in 99 locations, earning a very high site average of £7,351. The weekend Box Office figures include £223,394 from 92 preview. The film opened at No.7 on the UK Box Office chart.
Despite opening with record breaking numbers in India, Sunny Deol starrer Gadar 2 opened much lower than Jailer, despite having more locations. The Zee Studios release opened 118 locations, earning £212,419 over its first three days, with a site average of £1,800.
Karan Johar’s Rocky aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani is continuing its dream run in its third weekend, almost beating the collections of Gadar 2. The film earned £212,292 from just 70 locations, with a high site average of £3,033. The total gross so far stands at £1,377,374.
Akshay Kumar starrer Oh My God 2, had a small release, earning just £44,551 from 21 locations with a site average of £2,121.
