UK Box Office: ‘Pathaan’ becomes highest-grossing opener, debuts at #2

Shah Rukh Khan starrer Pathaan, released by Yash Raj Films, is continuing on its record breaking spree at the UK Box Office. The film is already the 11th highest-grossing Indian title ever in the UK.

Official figures from comscore have revealed that the film has become the biggest opener for an Indian title at the UK Box Office. The film opened at #2 on the UK Box Office chart, the second Indian film ever to peak at #2, a record first held by RRR. 

The weekend collections of the film came in at £1.4M with the total coming to just below of £2M (with Wed, Thu previews).

The film collected a historical £1,967,854 over its extended five day opening weekend from 212 locations with a very high site average of £9,282. From Friday-Sunday(27th-29th Jan), the film raked in £1,415,870.

The total worldwide collections from 100 territories reported by Yash Raj Films for the extended opening weekend stand at $66.24M (£53,60M), with $25.5M (£20,63M) from the total coming in from territories outside of India.

Pathaan has also broken records in other territories such as Germany, where it took 536,756 EUR from 97 locations, becoming the highest grossing Indian film at the German Box Office as well as the highest grossing opening weekend for an Indian film in the territory.

The lead actors of the film Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham met with fans and the Indian media during an event in Mumbai today to celebrate the success of the film.
