Three different trailers for ‘Heroine’

The makers of Kareena Kapoor’s Heroine have cut three trailers of the film. The content of all the promos will be tweaked as per the markets they are meant for — Indian theatres, overseas  and the ‘adult’ certified trailer, as originally planned.

“There will be some difference in the content, but they won’t be completely different from one another,” says an insider, adding, “For example, we have changed Hindi words like ‘r***i’ (prostitute) to ‘item’ for our U/A trailer. Plus, the cigarette-smoking scene has been blurred. The love-making sequences have also been cut down.”

But in the original trailer, which is meant for the Internet, the content will be retained. In the UK too, the makers want to target the 12-years-and-older category. Therefore, some objectionable content from those promos, too, have been removed.

Apparently, when the Censor Board watched Heroine, they felt that although Bhandarkar had made several films that have a bold take on society, Heroine is too bold, so the changes have to be made.

In the past, even when Kareena was shooting the film, the love-making and smoking scenes, had made headlines.

When contacted, a spokesperson from producers Disney-UTV confirmed: “We have cut three trailers for Heroine.”

Bhandarkar’s next, for the uninitiated, revolves around the life of a once-successful film actor, Mahi Arora. The film also stars Arjun Rampal and Randeep Hooda.

Heroine is set to release in the UK on Kareena Kapoor’s birthday, 21st September 2012.
